Chapter 771

Alaric was juggling 30 girlfriends in a single month at his peak!

He got a new woman every single day.

Women were like fashion accessories to him, and Alaric wore them perfectly.

Hertha was a wholesome, good woman. She didn’t fit in with a man like Alaric.

If she insisted on being with him, she would be the one to get hurt in the end.

Hertha’s eyes flashed with anger as she glared at Leopold, “What do you mean by protection? Thalassa was dating you with marriage in mind. She thought you were a responsible man who treated her well. But what happened in the end? She was left heartbroken!”

Leopold’s gentle and melancholic eyes dilated a little, “What are you saying? She was hurt after we broke up, wasn’t she?”

Seeing Leopold’s intense look, Hertha realized she might have said too much.

Thalassa had been resolute in breaking up with Leopold, determined and decisive. When Leopold later tried to reconcile, Thalassa told him in a firm manner she no longer loved him.

Even breaking up hadn’t made her sad or upset. She did it to make a clean break, to rid Leopold of any lingering feelings and allow him to pursue his own life.

Now she had just told Leopold that Thalassa had been heartbroken when they split.

It meant that she told Leopold that Thalassa had never forgotten him.

Hertha avoided Leopold’s eager gaze, “I didn’t say that. Listen to Thalassa. I must have been drunk to ramble like that. Don’t take it to heart. I can’t drink anymore. You were going to take me home, right?”

Leopold looked stunned; his face was full of pain.

Seeing him like this, Hertha wished she could slap herself. Why had she let her anger make her blurt out such things? It was all the alcohol’s fault. It had numbed her senses and made her speak without thinking. Only after the words were out did she realize she’d said something she shouldn’t have.

“I was really just talking nonsense because I was drunk. Thalassa is doing great now. She has four lovely kids and she’s with their father. She’s going to be very happy, so don’t worry. You should marry Debby soon and have kids of your own. Then your happiness won’t lose to Thalassa’s.”

Now that Hertha was fully sober and clear-headed, she tried to advise Leopold.

As a former classmate, she, like Thalassa, hoped that Leopold could move on from his past relationship and find his own happiness.

After all, not all first loves end up together.
