‘Really?’ Freya thought, ‘Preston, you've got eyes in the back of your head now?’

Preston said coldly, "Hans, pat her down."

Freya stood her ground as Hans stepped forward to search her. She frowned and said, "I am, after all, Kieran's fiancée. Shouldn't someone else be doing this?"

"You're right." Preston's voice was devoid of emotion.

Freya thought he'd have one of the women staff members frisk her, but then Preston walked up to her and said, "I'll do it myself."

Before Freya could finish, Preston had already begun to search her.

After confirming Freya wasn't carrying anything suspicious, Preston allowed her into his penthouse suite.

Once inside, Freya started to take in the lavish layout of the suite, which was probably the most modestly appointed penthouse in Echo City. The furnishings were surprisingly sparse, the bed reminiscent of a wooden plank.

Not even Preston, much less any middle-class worker in Echo City, would stay in such a place. After all, it was outdated, sparsely furnished, and, most importantly, outrageously priced.
