“I didn’t see anything. I’ll go down first. The police are still waiting at the door. You should come down quickly too.”

Feeling embarrassed under his gaze, Marion quickly left and rushed downstairs. Her heart was still pounding when she reached the ground floor.

She stopped at the entrance and covered her chest with one hand as she lightly touched her flushed cheeks with the other. After calming herself down for about half a minute, she stepped out.

“Sorry, Officer Tucker. My husband will be down shortly.”
