"Huh?" Jonathan snorted dismissively. "That's only because you're available now. If you weren't, Kenneth would be too much of a catch for her."

At hearing this, Everett's brows knitted together instantly. "You've been investigating Kenneth?"

"I'm just trying to protect you. You've never given me or your mother cause for concern when it comes to your personal life. Behind them, Jonathan quickly dialed his wife's number. "We're in trouble. We can't hide it from Everett anymore; he's definitely going to look for Dorothy now."

"How could you let him go?! Bring him back! I haven't dealt with Dorothy yet."

Jonathan recalled the cold look in his son's eyes just now. It was distant and gloomy, as if he had touched a nerve. It made him hesitant to follow. "Do you think we underestimated Dorothy's importance to Everett?"

"Is now the time to discuss this?!" Amanda yelled from the other end of the line. "I don't care how much he cares for Dorothy. The only woman who can be my daughter-in-law is Heather! Send someone to stop him now! My plan was to keep Dorothy from contacting Everett for at least three days, especially now that her mother just passed away. I want her to back off on her own or give up on Everett; either way, they need to break up!"
