Smiling pleasantly, Hayden touched Noah’s nose slightly, “What if I don’t’ want to marry you father? Then you won’t be able to see me again.”

Hearing this, Noah failed to stay calm and tried to climb on Hayden by grasping her arms.

“No. Please don’t, mom!”

Hayden lifted him up, patting his back softly, “I’m just kidding.”

Then Noah’s reaction was unexpected. He murmured unhappily against her shoulder, “You can leave my dad, but don’t leave me.”

Both Hayden’s uncle and aunt burst into laughter at his begging.

Then her aunt gave Joseph a meaningful look, teasing,

“You son is more fond of Hayden who has just taken care of him for half a year. To be honest, if you hurt Hayden, you son is very likely to stand by her side.”

Knowing it was a joke and not taking it seriously, Joseph’s grandfather laughed as well

“If my grandson hurt Hayden, then I will kick him out of the house and protect Hayden. It’s a shame to have such a descendent.”

All those at the table were making fun of him, Joseph stared at Noah, whose face took on a ghastly expression.

“Come to Daddy, Noah.”

Noah staying quietly in Hayden’s arms looked back at Joseph, complaining,

“Don’t be so rude, Daddy. My mom must love the one who is gentle.”

His statement had them hooting with laughter.

Obviously Hayden’s aunt was not reluctant to receive the Beckham family at such a peaceful and pleasant dinner.

After they finished the meal, Mr. Beckham drove Hayden’s uncle and his wife to the gate, which showed that he thought highly of Hayden.

“Please drop us here. Go back to the house. It’s wildly windy.”

Her aunt waked her hand as a signal.

But Hayden was determined to stand at the gate until their car gradually disappeared in the darkness.

Because it was too late, Hayden stayed the night in the Beckham’s house, which pleased the two kids both of whom hoped to sleep in Hayden’s room and lay on her bed already when Joseph was talking with his grandfather in the study.

Hayden held her kids in arms, lying on the bed as well and telling the bedtime story.

“Long long ago, there were two rabbits. One was white and the other was black. One day, they met in the forest…”

It’s quite late but Joseph was still having a serious conversation with his grandfather who became angry and solemn after reading the material given by Joseph.

“I think you probably have had a plan since you brought these records to me.”

Sitting straight across the desk, Joseph nodded,

“And the plan has already been carried out step by step. I guess that he’s been under protection since his evil deeds are well concealed. So I let Magnus investigate it.”

“Any result?”

“It’s Luke Hamilton, the police.”

Once hearing the name, Mr. Beckham took a deep breath, smacked his hand on to the table, and burst out,

“Son of bitch!”

“Fine…”

She was a little bit annoyed, refusing to move even a finger.

Then she suddenly opened her eyes after thinking about what it means, crying, “Snowing?”

Joseph was hit in the jaw when Hayden was raising up her head and grunted unconsciously, nodding with a hand covering the jaw, “Right. It began snowing right now.”

Ignoring his painful expression, Hayden jumped out of bed and came to stand at the window in her pajamas.

The sound made by her drawing the curtain was clear in the room.

The world was obscured by the falling snow here and there – the street lights was covered; the dry branches of tress were pressed down; the narrow road outside was buried underneath. The scene in front of her was most spectacular to her since she returned to the country.

“Where’s my phone?” She was turning back to look for it but fell into a warm fuzzy carpet, the two corners of which were held by Joseph who wrapped and held her gently, blaming, “You need more clothes, or you will catch a cold.”

“It’s not cold to me.” Hayden winked, “The room is heated. Give me freedom. I want to take a picture of it and show it to Alayna.”

“Hey, why do you share everything with her? Ok, just do it if you can get away from me.” Joseph was obviously jealous of Alayna.

“That’s what you said.” A crafty look came to her eyes. She was going to scratch his waist from the quilt.

She clearly knew by practicing many times that it’s easy to make him laugh by tickling there for the waist was the most sensitive of his body.

However, before she reached him, the carpet confined her more tightly. She looked up to find him satisfied and pleased, realizing that he had prepared well for her reaction.

Hayden got a little angry,

“You can’t do that to me. Come on, loose the carpet.”
