Chapter 37: Free Chef

What Viola never expected was that after Joseph had also given an order to let Hayden leave, Harrison interrupted to withdraw the order.

"I think it's a little more likely that Noah doesn't need you."

Harrison spoke coldly and gazed sharply at Joseph. He reprimanded Joseph in front of Hayden brusquely.

"I think what Ms. Downey says is exactly right. Look at yourself, do you look like a father? You drank so much and where were you when Noah rolled down the stairs? You were resting in your room, weren't you? You were indeed careless."

Joseph was originally already remorseful for his deed and the more Harrison said, the more guilty he became. He did not let Hayden leave anymore but just frowned in annoyance.

"Since she wants to stay, I'll let her stay. If you want to stay, you can also stay."

After Harrison left, Hayden pulled a stool and sat on the bedside. She used her hand to feel Noah's forehead temperature.

Joseph frowned.

"He isn't having a fever, why do you touch his forehead?"

Hayden rolled her eyes at him and her expression could not conceal her contempt, "When kids are sick, it's very likely that it will cause fever, especially the case of post-surgical infection. If the fever is severe in which it causes pneumonia and other complications, it will be a big problem. What on earth do you know?"

Hearing this, Joseph's face stiffened. He sat on the sofa and spoke with a low voice.

"Saying like these things really happen, you're not a doctor though?"

"My mommy originally was going to be a doctor." Stella suddenly walked to the place beside Joseph, used both her hands and legs to climb up his lap and directly sat on it.

Joseph did not detest this girl. On the contrary, he liked her very much. So, he just carried her to an upper position. Thinking that it was just a child's nonsense, he did not think too much about it and just asked, "Then why didn't she become a doctor after that?"

"If I remember correctly, doctors nowadays need seven years to graduate from a proper medical university. Not everyone can be a doctor after saying he or she wants to."

The fact that Hayden had fabricated her academic credentials was exposed during the interview three months ago. She was a person who did not even graduate from a university so it was nonsense that she could be a doctor. At most, she learnt some nursing knowledge in a vocational school. Therefore, she was certainly just bragging in front of her kid.

Hayden's eyes darkened slightly. She surprisingly did not retort and unexpectedly looked a bit dejected.

Seeing this, Joseph's heart suddenly tightened. He suddenly lost his mood to utter a series of mocking words that had been thought in his mind. So, he did not say anything.

Hayden stayed beside Noah and covered him with the blanket from time to time. Unknowingly, her eyes became more and more bleary and she fell asleep while lying on the bedside.

In the morning, the sunlight entered through the window. She woke up with a sore back and the scene in front of her caused her to have a complicated mood.

With two hands holding a game player, Stella was sitting on Joseph's lap while playing games. She seemed to have encountered certain difficulties, she looked up at Joseph for help.

"Mister, I can't pass this stage. How to clear this stage?"

Due to the anniversary project planning, Alayna purposely helped her to ask a friend out for consultation in which the friend was specialized in event planning, so she was in a hurry. Therefore, she did not argue more and just left, leaving Stella there. She kept yawning during the consultation the entire morning so she had continuously had a few cups of coffee.

At noon, she went to the market to buy a snakehead and went back to stew it to make soup. She also fried two simple dishes and put them in a portable four-layer lunch box. She then brought it to the hospital.

Noah had already regained his consciousness. One of his arms was in a cast while the other arm which was dislocated had just been connected back properly. So, he was apparently unable to move his hands and could just look at the dishes in front of him pathetically.

"I'll feed you." Joseph used a spoon to scoop the soup and sent it to the front of his face.

However, Noah did not show respect at all. He directly turned his head aside, not even taking a glance at Joseph. He only gazed at Hayden. It seemed like Harrison's words that Noah would also ignore Joseph even after regaining consciousness became reality.

"I'll do it." Hayden reached out her hand to Joseph, meaning to let him hand the bowl and spoon to her.

As expected, after Hayden became the one who fed him, Noah immediately smiled and drank a big bowl of fish soup.

Joseph was slightly jealous and he said sternly.

"Noah, you have to be clear, I'm your father."

Noah looked at him and suddenly stretched out his little foot from the cover and kicked Joseph's leg hard. His facial features were all twitching in anger.
