JASON STOKES

I still couldn't believe what Carl told me on the phone as I was speeding to the address he texted me.

"Lexi was pregnant" I thought "so, she was living a romantic life while I on the other hand was living a platonic one"

I packed my car at the junction and started trekking to the address since a car couldn't go in and that make me started wondering why Lexi would leave me for a guy that was living in a slum.

After trekking for good fifteen minutes, I finally got to the address. I checked my wristwatch and the time was 11:16pm.

I stood in front of the door for few minutes, took a very long breath and readied myself for whatsoever might be waiting for me.

After knocking on the door, I waited for some minutes before I finally heard some footsteps.

"Hi" a young guy said as soon as he opened the door and I thought "so, this is the man you ran away with Lexi, he is not even up to my standard in anything"

"Hey, good evening. I'm asking for a friend, Lexi... Lexi Tyler"

"And you're?"

"Just tell her a friend"

The guy locked the door and called "Lexi!"

"Yes" Lexi replied

"Someone is looking for you"

"Who?" Lexi asked

"He said a friend"

"He?"

"Yes, he. He is waiting"

"Ok, I'm coming"

I adjusted myself and made my face as neutral as possible when she said this

"Where is he?" I heard her asked the guy before opening the door

LEXI TYLER

I was so shocked I almost ran back in when I saw the person that was looking for me. Jason.

"Long time no see" he said with no grain of smile

"Jason" I called unbelievably "what are you doing here?"

"To see for myself if it's real"

"Ben, lock the door! I need to talk to someone"

"Okay" Ben replied

"Your husband?" Jason asked as I was leading us to the other side of the house where there was a bench

"Sorry?"

"Is he your husband?"

"No" I replied

"Boyfriend?"

"No"

"The father of your... baby?"

"No, roommate" I replied "Can you manage this?" I asked referring to the bench

"Yes"

We both sat on the bench, and I was racking my brain for something to say

"You promised not to leave me" Jason finally said after some minutes silence

"I didn't" I replied

"Stop playing games with me lexi, I'm not here for that, I'm here for answers. You said you will never leave me but you left without turning back for just a million dollars" he said with his cold grey eyes planted on me in the darkness

"I didn't"

"Okay then, you left because you are in love with another man, a man that can not even afford a good environment"

"That's none of your business"

"Of course, it isn't my business" he said sarcastically
