Aurelia had barely settled into the apartment when Leopold arrived, a dark scowl on his face. 

He had seen Arnold’s car parked outside the building. 

“Weren’t you supposed to be at Sunbeam Retreat with your mother today?” he asked. 

Aurelia settled into the couch, picking up a cherry from the bowl on the coffee table. After chewing thoughtfully, she finally replied in a casual tone, “Arnold has to leave for Starhaven tomorrow, so I went to his villa to wish him well.” 

A stifling frustration welled up inside Leopold, a feeling he couldn’t swallow or spit out. It made him irritable and restless. “When did Arnold become more important than your own mother?” he grumbled. 

“My mother was the one who told me to go. She always says that family supports you at home, but friends are your support when you’re out in the world. I’m lucky to have a friend like Arnold. I want to maintain our friendship,” she said, trying to maintain a serious tone. 

Leopold’s eyes narrowed dangerously, glaring at her as if he were about to breathe fire. “Friendship? You must be joking!” 

Aurelia swallowed hard, summoning the courage to meet his gaze, her eyes sparkling with a hint of defiance. “Why do you always get so mad when I’m with Arnold? You’re not…jealous, are you?” 

Leopold was taken aback, but quickly denied the possibility in his mind. He didn’t have feelings for her, so how could he be jealous? His annoyance was purely because of her deceitful nature, her constant disregard for his words. He detested women who played such games! 

“Don’t flatter yourself, Aurelia. You’re like a poison to me. Even if you were the last woman in the entire 

each one a vicious insult.

Aurelia felt like she had been physically hit, her spine stiffening. She knew very well that he didn’t like her. It was just that he had been teasing her recently about being jealous, so she wanted to fight back, to fight fire with fire! 

“Feeling’s mutual,” she mumbled, barely audible. But Leopold heard it, and it only served to fuel the fire 

inside him. 

“You are an infuriating woman!” She had the ability to drive him mad in a matter of minutes! 

Aurelia’s fingers tightened around the couch, her eyes lowered, casting a shadow of sadness on her pale face. 

“Maybe after the babies are born, I’ll leave Astral Enterprises. That way, you won’t have to see me anymore.” 

If Evelyn became the CEO’s wife in the future, even if Aurelia were to become a director, she wouldn’t have a good life. It might be better to switch jobs sooner than later. 

Leopold felt an unexpected tug at his heart. “What are you talking about?” 

She lifted her gaze, raising her voice, “I said, after the babies are born, I’ll disappear. Out of sight, out of mind.” 

His heart jolted, as if struck by something. His usual poker face paled a bit! It was the word “disappear” that he had been dreading lately! 

“You’re not going anywhere!” He grabbed her by the shoulders almost violently, pulling her into his arms and kissing her fiercely. 

“Um…” She was taken aback, trying to push him away, but his strong arms held her tightly, restraining her.
