William picked up a piece of pancake, slathered it with a layer of blueberry jam, and took a big bite. “Delicious, pancake and blueberry jam, a perfect match!” 

Chirpy, with sneaky steps, quietly approached along the edge of the dining table. “Let me try, let me try!” 

William stuck his tongue out at him. “This is mine, you can’t have any.” 

“Stingy, so stingy.” Chirpy turned his head away, pretending to be upset. 

William sighed like an adult and spread a little jam on Chirpy’s pancake. “You can only have a little bit, or you’ll get a tummy ache.” 

Chirpy was satisfied and returned to his own plate, pecking at the pancake. “Yummy, yummy.” 

Aurelia laughed and took a bite of her pancake, turning to her son. “William, we are going to Hawaii tomorrow. You’ll need to pack your things later.” 

“Sure thing, Mummy.” William bobbed his head obediently. He had his plans all figured out, including learning how to surf from Daddy and going to see the volcanoes. 

The Hawaiian sun was warm and inviting. 

Kids adapt quickly, and Kane acclimated to this place in no time. He was the youngest international competitor and the competition was scheduled for the next day. 

After studying the chess for a while, chatting with his grandparents, he went to bed early. Leopold poured himself a glass of whiskey and headed out to the balcony. Every night, he needed the numbness of alcohol to fall asleep. 

The alcohol was also severely damaging his stomach, causing him frequent pains. 

As the night deepened, he started to feel tipsy. A full moon hung high in the sky, illuminating the quiet, rocky beach in the distance. 

In the moonlight, Leopold caught a slender silhouette among the rocks. This silhouette was so familiar! 

Leopold squinted, looking from a distance. The sea breeze was rustling the woman’s hair, making it dance in the wind. His heart pounded in his chest. It was the shadow that haunted his dreams, the one he would recognize anywhere, anytime! 

“Aurelia…” He rushed out like a hurricane.

She set down her cane and sat on a rock, watching the violent waves crash against the rocks, breaking into pieces. 

The moon was beautiful here, but she still thought the moon in Elysium was bigger and rounda. 

Perhaps it was homesickness? 

A gust of sea breeze brought a low, hoarse voice. “Aurelia!”
