Chapter 368
When Aurelia returned to her seat, her phone rang. It was a call from Arnolds assistant Russell.
“Aurelia, Arnold has killed himself.”
“What?” A violent spasm ran through Aurelia’s heart. Her fingers twitched, koocking overs glass of wine on the table. Her face turned pale as she thought she must have
misunderstood. How could Arnold commit suicide?
Several people rushed to the hospital together.
Arnold had just been wheeled out from the emergency room and was still unconscious Fortunately, the housekeeper had found him in time, or the consequences would have been unimaginable.
He looked extremely gaunt, having lost a significant amount of weight, and a stubble circled his chin.
Aurelia was in agony, asking, “Russell, what happened to Amold recently? Why would he suddenly commit suicide?”
Russell told her about Arnold being manipulated by Lisa.
“Arnold broke down. He’s been locking himself in his room every day. The doctor said he’s suffering from depression, but he refused to take medication, causing his condition to
worsen.”
Fredric was furious, “I knew something was off with Arnold recently. Lisa is despicable, getting pregnant through such methods.”
Leopold remained silent, his face stern. He suspected there were other things Russell hadn’t mentioned.
Aurelia was engulfed in deep guilt. If she hadn’t been so decisive and offered him some comfort, he wouldn’t have broken down.
Leopold wrapped an arm around her shoulder, “Let’s go home for now. It’s late, and we can see him again tomorrow.”
Aurelia nodded, her head lowered and her heart heavy during the ride home.
Once they arrived home, she sank into the couch, clutching a pillow and letting out a sigh.
“I had thought that Lisa would do anything to prevent Arnold from divorcing her, but I didn’t warn Arnold. I felt that since they were married, whatever happened was their private matter and had nothing to do with me. I shouldn’t interfere.”
Leopold poured her a glass of warm milk and said, “You did nothing wrong. It would have been a grave mistake to remain entangled with him.”
