Chapter 428
Aurelia answered without a second thought, “The female lead should find a way to save herself. She can’t just wait for the male lead to sacrifice himself for her, can she? Women should be self–reliant, not waiting around for their demise. Plus, you can’t count on men. can you? What if the female lead falls for the antagonist and leaves her behind? She’d be doomed.”
“Huh?” Yuna wore a look of surprise, somewhat admiring Aurelia’s unique train of thought.
Aurelia quickly realized she was getting too caught up in her analogy and offered an awkward chuckle. “I’m just making an example. In the book, the male lead must stay true and committed, but in real life, men like these are not scarce.”
Leopold was one of them.
When she was lying in the ICU, teetering on the brink of death, he was rekindling his old flame with his ex.
Did he have any hidden reasons? No, he was just fickle and cold–hearted.
Moreover, he had never truly loved her. He had no real feelings for her. When she wasn’t appealing anymore, he kicked her to the curb and moved on.
Yuna shot her a sidelong glance. “Aurelia, don’t you think the female lead should keep her cool, wait for the male lead to find the antidote, and recover before she seeks revenge on the antagonist?”
Aurelia popped open a bottle of apple juice and took a sip., “Your arrangement could work, but if it were me, I couldn’t bear to see the female lead living on borrowed time, watching her man marry another woman and have sex with her. By the time she’s recovered, the antagonist might be carrying his child. It’s unwise for a woman to put her life in a man’s hands. A woman shouldn’t rely too heavily on a man. The person you can trust and rely on the most is yourself.”
“Okay.” Yuna scratched her head. “I’ll give it some thought.”
Aurelia flashed an easy smile. “My advice is FYI. The key is to cater to the readers‘ preferences.”
She didn’t know that her words had reached Leopold’s ears in real time.
Her reaction was his worst fear.
He was grateful he had held back from revealing the truth to her.
They still hadn’t established a bond of complete trust. She had never believed in him, not even a little.

If she were to know the truth, she would be freaked out and constantly doubting him. She would never patiently wait for him to bring back the last dose of antibiotics,
She would surely try to save herself secretly, taking risks behind his back and potentially falling into the enemy’s trap.
He ran a hand through his hair, feeling frustrated and restless.
The thought of her moving on and being close to another man lit a spark in him like a powder keg ready to explode at any moment.
At this point, Aurelia returned to Blossom Villa.
William was in his room building a model, with Chirpy fetching him materials.
It was a perfect teamwork between a boy and his bird.
Upon seeing Aurelia, Chirpy fluttered over to her, chirping, “Mommy’s back.”
Aurelia reached out her hand, allowing Chirpy to perch on it, gently rubbing its small head.
It then flew back to the table, resuming its play with William.
