Zane anxiously said, “What report? There’s none, really.”

“What were you busy with on your phone just now?”

“I was checking the map.”

Zane’s face turned red, and he chuckled wryly. “It’s really nothing. I just came over to greet you guys. We just met and haven’t really spoken much, I don’t want to seem impolite.”

Zane breathed a sigh of relief, then turned to Lysander. “Dr. Thorne, hi, have you played pool before?”

“Oh, it’s okay. If Yvonne continues to be annoying later, just ignore her. I’ll take you to the bar instead.”

“What can you do there that’s fun?”

“Nothing much, but you can order drinks there.”

Daphne gave him a hard pat. “I understand now. Josiah sent you to be her bodyguard, didn’t he?”

Zane, with a look of disappointment, asked: “Is it that obvious?”

Zane frowned. “I can’t figure it out either. What is she trying to achieve with her actions today?”

“Alright, no need for you to play the bodyguard. Lysander has me. You go and do your own thing.”

“No, no, no, let me do it. You go play with Yvonne. I’m really scared of her now, she just attacks indiscriminately. I can’t afford to provoke her, but I can avoid her.”

Daphne pursed her lips. “You’re abusing your role. Josiah asked you to protect Lysander, but you’re actually just taking it easy. I need to talk to him about this. He’ll deduct half of your salary.”
