Chapter 369 Right Inside

As she passed by the makeup room, she heard that it was filled with the cheerful chatter and laughter of the girls.

The cabin door was left ajar, providing a glimpse of the young ladies, all dressed in their beautiful dresses and applying makeup. Rina, in her vibrant red gown, took center stage, touching up her makeup in front of a mirror.

Of the five other cabins, four had their doors ajar, with only the one tucked away in the corner remaining closed.

Josiah should be right in there. With that in mind. Lysander deliberately chose the cabin that was farthest from the one she thought Josiah was in, which happened to be directly opposite the makeup room. After entering, she locked the door behind her.

The cabin wasn’t particularly spacious, but it was more than ample for one person.

There was a couch, a bar, and even a fridge. The fridge was stocked with an assortment of liquor.

Lysander wasn’t much of a drinker, so she simply chose to sit by the window, watching as the seagulls circled around the ship outside.

The sounds of merriment from outside grew louder, likely because Rina and the others had finished their makeup and were preparing to head to the main hall for the ceremony.

Right then, her phone buzzed twice.

It was a text from Adrian that read: The banquet is about to start. Where are you?

Lysander replied: I’m resting in the cabin. I won’t be going over.

Adrian: Are you tired?

Lysander: Not really. I’m just not particularly accustomed to these lively events.

Adrian: Should I come over and keep you company?

Lysander: No need. You guys carry on and enjoy yourselves. I’ll spend some time with the seagulls.

Adrian: I think I just saw Lysanne. Did you also see her? 

Suddenly intrigued, Lysander called Adrian right away.

Adrian quickly picked up the call. “Lysander?”

“I just met Lysanne. She mentioned that she’s the groom’s lawyer. She was the one who handled his previous divorce case. Your friend’s name is Rina, right? Does she know that this is the groom’s second marriage?”

Adrian chuckled lightly. “She does. However, in Epea and Adrune, things are more liberal. There are plenty of people who’ve been married twice, and it’s not uncommon to see those who’ve been married

Adrian sensed her silence and quickly laughed to ease the awkwardness. “There’s no need to be disappointed in men at such a young age. You’re acting as if you’re already jaded.” 

“By the way, it just occurred to me. Remember when we were dining at that famous restaurant? You mentioned you knew Lysanne, but you didn’t elaborate. Was it related to that divorce case she was handling?”

After a brief silence of two seconds, Adrian responded, “Yes.”

“Could you please tell me more about it?”

“Why not? However, I must admit that I’m not completely clear on all the details of this matter. All I did was provide some testimony in court. Paulo, today’s groom, caught his ex–wife cheating on him with another man. Rumor has it that the child she was carrying was also this man’s. When they were getting a divorce, Jane, that’s Lysanne, was Paulo’s lawyer, and she helped him win the case and secure a substantial settlement.”

Lysander furrowed her brows. “What about the child?”
