Chapter 414 Waiting For Your Call
Michelle stuck out her tongue, obediently nodding. “Lysander, do you think I’m too foolish?”
Lysander thought that perhaps she had been too harsh with her words earlier. After all, her sister only had good intentions, wanting to help case the family’s burden.
“Of course not. You’re still young, and there’s so much in the world you haven’t experienced yet. Your lack of experience makes it hard for you to foresee certain dangers. Mich, I know you mean well, but wealth isn’t important. Your personal safety is what truly matters. Can you imagine how heartbroken Mom, Dad, and I would be if anything were to happen to you?”
Michelle hung her head low, fiddling with her fingers dejectedly. “Truth be told, I was a bit scared at first. I’ve never been to such a grand place before. But Zachary said…
Lysander’s heart skipped a beat. “Who said?”
Michelle panicked. “Um, no… no one.”
Lysander became serious, “Did you come to work here because of Zachary? Did he send you here? What did he tell you?”
“I was just looking for a part–time job, you know. But I couldn’t find one that could help me make a lot quickly, so I asked Zachary for advice. He mentioned that a friend of his was working here as a junior supervisor and could arrange for me to work here. Zachary is so mature and reliable. He wouldn’t in harm’s way, would he?”
Lysander was filled with anger.

However, she reined in her emotions in front of her younger sister. They both returned home, and she helped her sister cover up the lie in front of their parents, Once all three of her family members had gone. to bed, she went downstairs alone and found a quiet spot to call Zachary.
The call was answered quickly. “Lysander?”
“Zachary, what on earth are you trying to do?”
Zachary chuckled lightly. “I’ve been waiting for your call.”
“You’ve already gotten what you wanted. Why are you still pestering Michelle?”
Zachary had seemingly braced himself for her fury, his tone remaining nonchalant. “Shall we meet up and talk?”
“Tell me the location.”
“My home.”
Lysander remained silent.
“Don’t worry, my mom is at home, too. I won’t do anything to you. You’re safe,”
“Zachary, I don’t believe you.”

“What’s wrong
with being guarded around someone like you?”
“All right then, where do you suggest we meet?“.
“At the burger joint by the residential area’s main entrance.”
Zachary readily agreed, saying, “Sure.”
After ending the call, Lysander headed to the burger joint first and ordered a burger.
Roughly ten minutes later, Zachary arrived.
He was still dressed in a suit and shirt, appearing refined and well–mannered, much like a corporate elite.
Pulling out a chair, he took a seat across from Lysander and ordered a burger, too.
“Speak up,” Lysander commanded, her arms crossed as she looked him straight in the eye. “What are you planning this time?”
Zachary asked, “Did you and Josiah break up?”
“Yes.”
“Really?”
“Don’t believe me? Go ask her yourself.”
Zachary was all smiles as he said, “Come on, Lysander, your sister is already eighteen. Do you still think she’s a naive kindergartener who doesn’t know anything?”
“Could you possibly stoo mentioning losiah? If youso infatuated with Josiah, why don’t you go to
Two burgers were served.
Zachary took a bite and savored it before letting out a sigh. “In the entire Harborbrook, how many people do you think could arrange a private jet so quickly to send Daphne’s grandmother abroad for treatment?”
“So what you’re saying is, the private jet was sent by Josiah… No, that’s not right. It was a favor from a friend of my elder relative.”
Zachary, too, hesitated. “Are you sure?”
“Why would I lie to you about this?”
Zachary’s expression darkened. “I really not him?”

Lysander rapped on the table, steering the conversation back on track. “You still haven’t explained why. you persuaded Michelle to work at Skywatch.”
Zachary was straightforward. “I want you to meet with Josiah.”
Lysander was puzzled, “Why?”
“I wanted to see what was really going on between you two. Are you completely broken up, or was it just a minor spat?” Zachary put down his burger and pulled out a napkin to wipe his mouth.
“Aiden is a regular at Skywatch, and given Josiah’s recent party–animal lifestyle, Aiden will most certainly bring him there. Josiah must be familiar with your sister, right? If he still considers Michelle his niece, he’ll definitely take some action. He might contact you to pick her up or send her home himself. The two of you would have to meet either way. But to my surprise, Josiah did nothing when he saw her. You came yourself. What surprised me even more was…” Zachary paused for a moment and continued, “that when he saw you and your sister being surrounded by two men, he didn’t even bother. Instead, he walked off with another woman in his arms.”
Lysander composed herself, studying him intently. “Were you also at Skywatch just now?”
“I didn’t go in. I was outside the door, but I saw everything that needed to be seen.”
“So, do you believe me now? I’ve really broken up with Josiah. If you’re still planning to use me to get any benefits from him. I’m afraid that plan is going to fall through,” said Lysander.
Slamming
napkin down on the table, he said, “I was laid off.”
“Josiah’s orders?“Lysander was taken aback.
