Nieva flashed a smile, gazing out at the sunlight in the garden. “The weather has been so lovely lately. It seems such a waste to stay cooped up indoors all the time. Since we’re here, we should definitely get out more. There’s a canyon nearby that I’ve been planning to hike. However, Aurora keeps holding me back. What do you think, Mr. Guerra? Do you have some free time? It would be good practice for when you have children of your own!”

Josiah glanced at Lysander. “I am fine with it. What about you?”

Lysander furrowed her brows. “Don’t you need to go back to work at your company?”

Lysander still felt uneasy. “Ms. Lionhart, neither Mr. Guerra nor I have any experience with taking care of children. I am afraid we might not do a good job.”

Nieva blinked. “What’s so difficult about it? Aurora is easy to handle. Plus, you have your professional skills to rely on. You might even do a better job than me. Of course, I won’t force it. it is all up to you.”

Nieva was a benefactor. She had just done a favor, so it wouldn’t be right to refuse her now.

It seemed as if Josiah had noticed Lysander’s worried expression. He asked, “Ms. Lionhart, how long do you plan to be away?”

“It should take at least a day or two. This mountain range is not particularly vast, so it shouldn’t take too long.

Josiah nodded. “A day or two should be fine.”

Upon seeing him nod, Nieva immediately affirmed, “Okay, it is settled then. I’ll go back to my room to

Josiah teased, “There’s no need to rush. You can extend your hike for another day or two.”

“Really now, you’re mixing business with pleasure, Mr. Guerra,” Nieva said, handing her daughter over to him. She then bent down to stroke Aurora’s head, advising gently, “Mommy will be away for a few days, but Mr. Guerra and Lysander will take care of you. Be a good girl and don’t cry, okay?”

Aurora opened her eyes wide, oblivious to what was about to happen next.

Josiah was immediately displeased. “it is Josiah and Lysander.

Nieva confronted him directly, “You’re thirty years older than my daughter. Do you really have the audacity to let her call you by your name?”

“Well, Mr. Guerra and Lysander sound weird.”

Nieva laughed heartily. “But Ms. Thome is so young and pretty. Calling her ‘Miss‘ doesn’t fit, right, Aurora?”

The baby didn’t understand a word but responded enthusiastically to her mother’s voice with nods and babbling.

Nieva tapped her daughter’s nose. “See, even Aurora agrees with me.”

“Fine, call us whatever you want.” Josiah sighed. “Today I am at the bottom of the food chain.”

Nieva’s tone shifted as she teased, “Calling her “Lysander‘ is just for now. In the future, you might call her Mrs. Guerra, right. Mr. Guerra?”

Josiah laughed. “Don’t start. You should spend more time with Elio.”

Turning around, she saw Aurora about to cry after realizing her mother had left. Josiah was using flowers from the table to distract her. 

“Ms. Lionhart helped Daphne a lot this time. I have to take good care of her child out of gratitude.”

Lysander asked, “Do you still want seafood?”

“You’ve helped Daphne build connections and secure investments. We truly owe it to you. I am not someone who doesn’t appreciate kindness. I can’t just accept help without expressing my gratitude.”

After some thought, Josiah asked, “Can I ask for a different kind of gratitude?”

Josiah chuckled. “You treat me like a thief now. I couldn’t even see the moon with you. What could I nossibly do?”

“Then what do you want?”

“Hand me the toys from the stroller. Aurora is curious but gets bored quickly. The flowers aren’t holding her attention anymore.”

Lysander found some plush toys and handed them to Josiah, who started entertaining the baby,

But Aurora wasn’t easily appeased this time. She pouted, on the verge of tears.

Josiah panicked a bit. “Lysander, see what’s wrong with her?”

Lysander recalled how nurses at Central Hospital soothed babies. Calming down, she suggested. “Try walking around with her. Babies don’t like staying still. Or hold on while I prepare her milk.”

Josiah was oddly confident. “You haven’t finished your breakfast yet. Let me do it.”

Aurora was crying harder, ander couldn’t focus on eating. She took the bottle and formula from the stroller and asked a waiter for hot water. After sterilizing the bottle, she mixed the formula at the right temperature. She then handed the warm bottle over.

Josiah walked around with Aurora, trying to calm her. She cried less but was still upset until the bottle was handed to her, stopping her tears.

“So she was hungry.”

Aiden arrived at the restaurant, noticing Josiah’s tall figure immediately. He lifted a brown document bag. cheerfully calling out, “Josiah, I brought…”

Halfway through, he noticed Lysander and the baby they were both looking at. His mouth dropped open

surprise.
