Cody examined Noelle, realizing that she was not as he had imagined.

He had thought, based on Annie's descriptions, that Noelle might not be a respectable woman. However, seeing her now, she seemed quite dignified. She stood confidently beside Charles without being overshadowed.

Charles' dark eyes fell on Cody, narrowing slightly. Cody immediately realized his mistake and quickly diverted his gaze.

"Mr. Adams, please sit. There's no need to be so tense," Charles said calmly, contrasting Cody's evident nervousness.

Cody sat down again, feeling unsure about where to place his hands and feet.

Becky then brought in tea, setting it down in front of him. Cody accepted it politely.

"Mr. Hoffman, may I ask why you've called me here today?" Cody could not fathom the reason why Charles summoned him here. After all, Charles had already promised to spare Annie and Adams Corp after the previous incident.

Charles smiled slightly, releasing Noelle's hand and pulling a file from his desk drawer, which he handed to Cody.

Cody looked at it and realized it was the shares of Adams Corp that Charles had acquired to suppress them. While it was not all of the shares, it was significant enough to be crucial.

Adams Corp's foundation was already shaky, and despite Cody's best efforts, restoring it to its former glory was nearly impossible after Charles' suppression.

Cody knew this, but he still wanted to try. Seeing the document now made his hands tremble slightly. "Mr. Hoffman, what do you want me to do?"

Charles' smile widened. "Mr. Adams, you're indeed a smart man," he said, appreciating Cody's quick grasp of the situation. He preferred dealing with intelligent people as it saved unnecessary trouble.

"Then what do you mean, Mr. Hoffman?" Cody asked, relieved that Charles did not seem to have sinister intentions.

"Annie is not skilled in much. I'm not sure how she can be of help to you."

"Your sister is friends with Winter, isn't she?"

Cody's eye twitched slightly, but he nodded. "Yes."

"Then just have her remain friends with Winter. That shouldn't be too difficult for Ms. Annie, right?" Charles said with a gentle smile.
