"Aunt Clarisse, will you help me or not? I don't want to see this woman anymore. You have to get Charles or Uncle Mateo to kick her out of Collosus Group," Janet blurted out when she saw that Clarisse was still silent.
"I don't want to see her again. Didn't you say you care about me the most?"
"Enough!" Clarisse snapped, glaring at Janet. "How long are you going to keep causing trouble?"
"I'm not causing trouble, Aunt Clarisse. She's clearly challenging your authority. She even dared to threaten—"
Becky let out a cold laugh, looking at Janet as if she were a fool. It was no wonder Charles would not look at her. How could someone like Janet ever be a match for him? She was nothing but a lunatic.
"What are you laughing at?" Janet asked in a sharp voice.
"Nothing." Becky glanced at Janet, then turned to Clarisse. "Surely, you must realize that this is just a job; it's not worth me making enemies over. But even a cornered rabbit will bite back. Don't you agree?"
"What do you want?" Clarisse gritted her teeth, never imagining that she would be threatened by a mere secretary.
"I don't want anything. I'm just a secretary. I don't have the courage to oppose you or Ms. Baker. But you're smart. Surely, you can guess why I feel bold enough to speak like this?"
Becky rubbed her reddened cheek. "I've been gone for too long already. The main event of the year-end banquet is coming up. If I'm not there, not only will Mr. Hoffman be suspicious, but everyone at Collosus Group will notice as well. Madam—"
Becky was just a secretary, but she would not dare act so boldly unless she knew something crucial. She should have just brushed things off, but the fact that she spoke so openly suggested that Charles knew everything.
He was aware that the raffle box had been switched but chose not to call them out to save Janet from humiliation.
Charles probably knew that they had asked for Becky as well.
A minor incident involving a secretary might not matter, but if that secretary was Charles' trusted confidante, then it was a different story.
"I told you before to treat Becky nicely! Besides Ronald, Becky is the person Charlie trusts the most. She didn't climb to the position of head secretary at such a young age by being soft. Now look at what you've done by cutting ties with her. Let's see how you handle things from here on out!"
