Noelle thought she would need to spend the new year by herself this year. She did not expect Charles to spend it with her. How could she not be overjoyed by that fact?

“But this reminds me of something.”

“What is it?” Noelle blinked as she leaned back into her seat. “What’s going on?”

“We haven’t met your maternal grandfather yet, have we?”

“Oh, right!” Noelle clapped a hand to her forehead, an aggrieved expression on her face. "I would have completely forgotten if you hadn’t reminded me. I always spend this time of year with him, but everything that’s happened recently has made me completely forget about it." Noelle sounded guilty. “Do you think he’ll be mad at me because of how long I haven’t called him?”

“Nope!” Charles said as he gently pinched Noelle’s nose. “He would never be mad at you.”

“Let’s go visit him now!” Noelle said as she picked up her phone and called May. She learned how Sebastian told May to prepare extra food for the last few days because Noelle would be visiting. However, after a few no-shows, he felt slightly miffed. However, the old man felt too embarrassed to express his feelings, so he decided to wallow in self-pity like a young child instead of calling Noelle.

Noelle could not help but chuckle as she listened to May complain about Sebastian. “May, please prepare some food. Charlie and I will be right there!”

“Mr. Hoffman will be joining?” A light shone in May’s eyes. “Gosh, alright. Alright, I’ll get to preparing the food immediately.”

“Grandpa, Happy New Year!” Noelle said, grinning as she let go of Charles’ arm and embraced Sebastian. “It’s been so long, Grandpa, but you look just as handsome as ever!”

“Oh, you little munchkin!” There was no way Sebastian could bring himself to be upset at Noelle, and his anger vanished the minute he heard her laughter. However, he still pretended to be upset at her as he gently tapped a finger against her forehead. “What’s going on? Have you finally remembered to drop by? I thought you forgot about me! Did you enjoy yourself at your Grandpa Shaw’s place?”

Noelle could not help but laugh as she laced her arm with Sebastian’s and led him into the house, throwing Charles a quick look while saying, “Charlie, bring the things in!”

Noelle was good at giving instructions, and she chuckled as she took Sebastian’s arm and led him into the living room. “Yes, of course I enjoyed myself! But I’m even happier to see you again, Grandpa!”
