The divorce was postponed for now, but the property settlement had been finalized. We went through the legal procedures because I was worried that Davon might change his mind if we waited too long.

The house and assets were better in my hands.

After signing the agreement, I kept trying to spend more time with him, wanting to give Rainie some beautiful memories.

Of course, this was true. Rainie was innocent, and she would grow up in a single-parent family. I needed to protect her with some kind, even if white lies, to shield her childhood.

As for Davon, who could resist a woman who was so full of devotion and heart? A woman who had his child and would continue to be his wife even if he deceived her in the future.

Davon wavered.

But he wanted to delay things. His mistress outside, however, wasn't letting him.

That night, after we went to bed, I heard low voices coming from the bathroom.

A woman's sharp voice rang out.

"Davon! Are you softening up? Don't forget, I'm carrying your son!"

Davon's voice came back, muffled. "Lower your voice. How am I softening up?"

"In a couple of days, we'll get a divorce. You don't like me having that daughter of yours, so I'll just throw her out once you're free."

The woman's voice softened.
