I arranged for Rainie to transfer schools and put the house I received from Davon on the market. I was preparing to take her to a city I liked, one with better schools.

When I first married, I had come here, but it had never been my ideal place.

Now that I had the means and the opportunity, I wanted to move somewhere that suited me better.

Most importantly, I didn't want Rainie to be caught up in the drama of Davon's family.

However, despite my quick preparations, surprises were inevitable.

A few days later, a woman, her small belly slightly showing, came to our door.

"Who's this?"

When she arrived, it was Rainie who answered the door, and I immediately came out to see her.

"Sweetheart, go inside," I said to Rainie.

The woman arrogantly smirked, "Avni Taylor, you don't know who I am, but I sure know who you are."

"I'm carrying your ex-husband's baby. Oh, wait—he's your ex now, isn't he? This is Davon's precious son. Much more valuable than your little girl."

"Davon has cancer," I said calmly.

The woman froze for a moment before bursting into laughter.
