As the car drove away, I glanced at the rearview mirror.

Wendy Snow was stomping her feet in frustration.

I couldn't help but curl my lips into a faint smile.

"What's so funny?" Ryan, noticing my expression, assumed I was in a good mood and spoke up.

I made no effort to hide my amusement.

"I just saw Wendy Snow standing by the side of the road, almost as if she were waiting for you. Didn't you tell her where you were going today?"

Hearing the sarcasm in my tone, Ryan paused, then gave a bitter smile.

"I wasn't with her, not at all."

I paused for a moment, then said, "No need to explain yourself. If you really like her, just be with her. After all, you're single now."

Ryan turned to look at me. "Mannie, are you saying that I can take this to mean you still have feelings for me?"

I couldn't help but laugh. "You're quite full of yourself."

Ryan pressed his lips together. "If I were to start pursuing you again, would you give me another chance, Mannie Lindsay?"

I looked out the window, not answering his question.

After dinner, the heavy rain finally stopped.

The scorching sun beat down, the trees were fresh, and the air smelled damp.

Ryan called out to me. "Mannie Lindsay, can I still ask you out in the future?"

I met his gaze and said seriously, "Ryan, why do you think I, Mannie Lindsay, would want a man who's disloyal in relationships?"

Ryan's face turned pale in an instant.

He swayed a little, clutching his stomach for a moment before quickly letting go.

He forced a smile, his lips as white as paper. "Alright, I understand."

I clenched my fist, turning away to hail a cab.

After getting in, I glanced out the window. He was still looking in my direction, his figure marked with an unmistakable loneliness.

...

I booked a flight online, setting the departure date for two days later.

However, when I arrived at the airport, dragging my luggage with multiple bags in tow, Wendy Snow's call came through.

"Miss. Lindsay, if you have any conscience left, you need to head to the City Hospital immediately.

Ryan drank so much last night for you, he caused a stomach hemorrhage, and they just rushed him into the ER!"
