Rita could not shake off the expression on Sherman's face when he left. He did not even notice she was standing there. He did not even ask if she wanted to go to the hospital with him; he just left like that. Did he ever consider that she was scared too?

Even when the ambulance arrived at the hospital, Claire refused to let go of Sherman's hand as she lay on the hospital bed.
