Chapter 145 novel The Day Our Promise Breaks (Charles and Evelyn)

Evelyn knew she couldn't hold out forever. There was no way Charles would stand by while the woman he adored was getting hurt.

She stood her ground, watching as Charles strode over with determination. He grabbed Sena's arm mid-swing, and yanked her back forcefully. "Sena, what on earth are you doing? Stop this madness!"

But Sena was too far gone, blinded by fury. Even as Charles pulled her away, her fists kept swinging at Dahlia. When she couldn't use her hands, she resorted to kicking, aiming vicious blows at Dahlia.

"You bitch, you've ruined me! I'll make you pay!"

No matter how fast Charles acted, Dahlia still took several brutal kicks from Sena. Fueled by rage, Sena's strength seemed to double, each hit and kick landing harder than ever.

Dahlia's face was swollen and red, her lips pale from the pain. Her ears were ringing. She lay sprawled out on the coffee table, struggling to get up.

Charles finally managed to fling Sena to the floor. The burst of energy had left her drained, and she sat there, still glaring hatefully at Dahlia, whom Charles was now helping to her feet.

Dahlia leaned into Charles, tears brimming in her eyes. She looked every bit the picture of helplessness as if the world had done her wrong.

In the past, Sena might have fallen for those looks, felt sorry for Dahlia, and even defended her. But after seeing the video and witnessing Dahlia’s pitiful act, the façade was clear. The more Sena watched her expression, the more fake it seemed. It just disgusted her.

Her eyes were bloodshot, filled with the agony of betrayal. With a voice cracked from emotion, Sena screamed, "Dahlia, how could you do this to me?"

"What did I ever do to deserve such cruelty from you?"

Dahlia truly shattered Sena. In their social circle, many girls fooled around, but not Sena. She had always had feelings for Brooks, remained pure, and saved herself for him. Only Brooks was worthy of her love.

Dahlia knew Sena’s heart, how deeply she loved Brooks, and how she wanted to preserve the most precious parts of herself for him. Sena had held onto her virginity for 24 years, only to have it ripped away by Michael, all because of Dahlia’s cold indifference.

Charles, who was supporting Dahlia, suddenly froze at Sena’s words. His eyes widened in shock. He abruptly let go of Dahlia, strode over to Sena, and pulled her up from the floor. His face was grim, and his eyes were intense as he demanded, "Sena, what do you mean Evelyn didn’t drug me?"
