"Ah!"

Dahlia let out a shrill scream from her throat, freezing for several seconds before tremblingly turning off the kettle.

"Mommy!"

Sandy, who had come over unnoticed, saw Dahlia's hand scalded by the boiling water. After crying out for her mom, she suddenly turned and ran towards Charles, who was not far away. Like finding her rock, she cried, "Daddy... daddy..."

Charles was on the phone, but he immediately hung up, crouched down, and lifted the tear-streaked Sandy into his arms. "Sandy, what happened?"

"Daddy, Ms. Evelyn burned Mommy's hand."

Charles' expression changed instantly. Holding Sandy, he quickly walked towards the break room.

The onlookers, attracted by the commotion, were stopped in their tracks by a look from Charles. No one dared to come closer.

Charles carried Sandy in, closing the door behind them with a backhand.

"Charles..." Dahlia's eyes were red, her voice trembling with pain she was desperately trying to hide. That call carried so much hurt.

Charles' gaze turned icy as he glanced at Evelyn. He quickly walked over to Dahlia, took her arm, and placed her scalded hand under cold running water.

Dahlia couldn't help but cry out in pain, her lips quivering. She looked so pitiful.

"Just hold on." Charles' face was filled with distress as he softly comforted her.

The more he comforted her, the redder Dahlia's eyes became. Tears swirled in her eyes.

Evelyn couldn’t watch this melodrama, and turned to leave.
