Evelyn clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white.
Charles was a ridiculous fool. Now, he had the audacity to make a big deal about welcoming Sandy into the Jenkins family.
When that day came, Evelyn would be ready, paternity test in hand, to throw it in Charles' face in front of every one in the Jenkins family. She would let them all see that he was nothing but a joke. He was doing that all for a child that wasn’t even his own while treating her and Charlie so poorly. Evelyn wanted him to understand just how much he truly owed Charlie.

At the Jenkins Estate, in Rosa's garden, Evelyn sat, feeling a mix of comfort and tension. She never liked visiting the Jenkins estate, but Rosa was different. Rosa was one of the few people who genuinely cared for her and looked out for her like family. Rosa knew Evelyn wanted to avoid the rest of the Jenkins family, so she had invited her to a quiet dinner in the garden.
As they chatted, Patrick and Charles strolled in.
“Mother.”
“Grandma.”
Rosa shot them a look of disdain. “What brings you two here?”
“We wanted your opinion about Charles and Dahlia,” Patrick began, but Rosa was having none of it.
“If you ask me, she’s not setting foot in this family,” Rosa snapped.
“Grandma,” Charles said, his voice carrying a weighty determination. In Evelyn's presence, he didn’t elaborate, but his intent was clear. He was going to marry Dahlia. He glanced at Evelyn, who, since they'd walked in, acted as if he were invisible, save for a greeting to his father.
“Eve, the 26th is a weekend. How about joining me for a little getaway?” Rosa suggested, concerned about Evelyn’s feelings. She knew Evelyn had endured a lot because of Dahlia. Despite her current indifference towards Charles, Rosa worried Dahlia might still be a problem.
“Grandma, I’ve got some work to handle, so I can’t join you,” Evelyn replied, using work as an excuse to decline.
“Work is important. You handle that. I’ll head to the church on my own,” Rosa assured her.
“Alright,” Evelyn said softly. She understood Rosa’s concern, but there was no way she’d miss what was about to unfold.

Back at Greenrose, Dahlia was gloating. “Charles, we’ve finally made it to this day. I can finally be with you openly and rightfully.”
