Charles' once stern expression softened instantly, and he agreed without hesitation. "Of course!"

As soon as he finished the call, he turned and left briskly without hesitation.-

Once again, he chose the daughter he had with Dahlia, leaving Charlie behind.

Evelyn stood still, clutching the urn tightly to her chest and gently patting it in a tender motion as she silently comforted her daughter.

Ever since Dahlia returned from abroad with Sandy, Charles had shown them absolute favoritism. He would rush over immediately at their mere call, no matter how late or what he was doing.

Evelyn didn't mind being neglected, but her heart ached for her Charlie.

She was so good and so understanding. Yet, her father had hurt her time and again.

Fortunately, this was the last time.

Central Hospital, VIP Ward

Charles entered with a chill in the air.

Dahlia was soothing Sandy. When she saw him, she asked in surprise, "Charles, what are you doing here? Didn't you say you were going to make up for Charlie's birthday this morning?"

She immediately realized her mistake and looked sternly at her daughter on the bed. She scolded, "Sandy, did you secretly call your dad again?"

"Daddy..."

Sandy threw herself into Charles' arms, looking up at him with teary eyes. Her voice quivered as she whined softly, "I get scared when you’re not around."
