Charles finished speaking and left in big strides with Dahlia beside him.

Evelyn collapsed. She slid down the car, bowing her head in discomfort. Her head was buried in her knees.

She had returned to the venue, still harboring a sliver of hope.

Charlie was gone. There was no way Charles would see Charlie if he rushed over. Perhaps he could believe her words and give back to her what was originally hers. However, with the attitude he showed just now, there was no turning back from tonight’s outcome.

A million, to the wealthy, was not much money. But to ordinary people, earning a million was not something that could be achieved quickly.

It took Evelyn a while to adjust her emotions and go upstairs to do her makeup.

At the award ceremony, the host was going through the process.

Evelyn and the other finalists were waiting backstage for the results. Dahlia sat in the front row, dressed in next spring’s haute couture from the X brand collection. Charles had gotten it for her. It was her first time wearing it.

Someone recognized it from behind and asked her uncertainly, "Dahlia, is that the X brand’s latest haute couture for next spring?"

"Yeah." Dahlia spoke softly.

"Your boyfriend is so good to you. I'm so envious."

Dahlia's eyes were tender as she looked at Charles in the first row of the venue, and she said gently, "Yes, he loves me very much and treats me well."

After speaking, amidst the compliments and envy of the crowd, she glanced surreptitiously towards the shadows at the back.

There sat Evelyn.

On stage, the host went through the proceedings smoothly until the final award presentation.

He opened the envelope and announced loudly, "The first place in this competition goes to..."
