Wesley was pushing for a retrial, and Charles got wind of it right away. His face turned grim. Two years back, if it hadn't been illegal, Charles might have taken Wesley out himself after learning Wesley had tried to off Evelyn. Even though Evelyn had somehow survived that crash, it didn't change the fact that Wesley wanted her dead. Plus, her two-year disappearance was on him too. No way was he getting a slap on the wrist this time.

Charles couldn't handle it personally, but he sure could make sure Wesley never saw the light of day again. He dialed up Blake. Two years ago, Blake had been the one to lock Wesley up for life.

"Blake, I want Wesley to rot in jail."

"Consider it done," Blake assured.

Back then, seeing the fire in Charles's eyes whenever Wesley's name came up, Blake had to ask, "Are you sure you don't love Evelyn?"

Charles shot back without skipping a beat, "This isn’t about love."

His face said it all—he was sure of who held his heart. But did he really know?

Outside the room, Dahlia felt a wave of relief wash over her hearing Charles vow to keep Wesley locked up for good. She'd been on edge since Evelyn showed up alive, worried about Wesley’s case being reopened. But then she figured, from behind bars, Wesley couldn't possibly know Evelyn was back.

Why worry at all? Evelyn had only managed to steal the spotlight today because her sudden reappearance caught Dahlia off guard. But in the grand scheme, Evelyn was no match for her, and she wouldn't be snatching Charles away either.

Dahlia chose not to interrupt Charles. The sting from Evelyn’s earlier triumph was still fresh, and it was hard to swallow. As she scrolled through her feed, she stumbled upon a post from a socialite who was all buddy-buddy with her because she was engaged to Charles.

The grapevine was buzzing about Brooks getting engaged soon, but there were new photos of him dining with another woman.

The shots showed Brooks looking at Evelyn with unmistakable affection.
