Hospital

The sun was shining bright today, and Josephine woke up feeling pretty refreshed. After her routine check-up with the doctor, she had some breakfast and took her meds. Her caregiver, with a friendly smile, asked, "Ms. Josephine, fancy some fresh air outside?"

"Absolutely," Josephine replied without missing a beat.

The caregiver escorted Josephine downstairs for a stroll. As they passed through a quiet spot, the caregiver's phone buzzed.

Checking the message, she looked a bit uneasy and said, "Ms. Josephine, my kid's here to visit me. She showed up early and is waiting at the hospital entrance..."

"I'm alright, go ahead and meet her. Don't keep the little one waiting," Josephine nodded, understanding completely.

Being a mom herself, she naturally got it.

"Thanks so much, Ms. Josephine. I won't be long," the caregiver said gratefully, then hurried off to the hospital entrance.

Josephine wandered over to a nearby bench and settled down, turning her back to the sun. She pulled out a book she’d brought along and started reading. It was peaceful here, just perfect for soaking in some sun and diving into a good book while waiting for the caregiver to get back.

She’d only gotten a few lines in when she overheard some gossiping going on behind her.

At first, she brushed it off. That was until...

"Did you hear about that lady in the VIP room on the eighth floor? Her daughter’s a homewrecker."

Hearing someone trash-talk her daughter as a homewrecker, Josephine's face twisted with anger.

She sprang up and made her way over to the group.

The person was in full swing with their story.

"The only reason she’s in such a fancy room is her daughter drugged a rich guy and hopped into his bed."

"Her daughter’s sly, bribing the media, spilling everything, even popping fertility pills to get pregnant and break up his engagement."

Taking advantage of the woman’s shock, Josephine swiftly slapped her twice across the face. "Listen up, my daughter is not a homewrecker! Spread another lie, and I'll tear your mouth apart!"

Josephine’s eyes blazed with fury as she glared at the others involved, her gaze a clear warning.

If they dared to speak ill of Eve, and she caught wind of it, she’d make sure they regretted it.

"You old witch, your shameless daughter did something so disgraceful, and you think you can shut everyone up?"

The woman wasn’t one to back down either. Recovering quickly, she slapped Josephine back, leaving her ear ringing.

"Are you saying your daughter didn’t climb into a man’s bed while he was still with his girlfriend?"

Josephine faltered slightly.

She knew exactly how Charlie came to be. That night when Evelyn and Charles conceived Charlie, Charles indeed had a girlfriend, Dahlia. They were a couple at the time.
