When Evelyn showed up, Brooks couldn't resist stepping forward and wrapping her in a warm embrace.

"Evelyn, when I come back, could you give me a chance?" he asked, hope lacing his voice.

Was there room for him in her heart too?

"You don't have to answer me right now. Take this week to think it over, and when I return next week, let me know your decision, okay?"

Brooks wasn't about to pressure her.

The boarding announcement echoed through the airport, urging passengers to start boarding. Brooks held her a bit tighter, reluctant to let go, but eventually, he did.

Evelyn watched as Brooks walked away, glancing back every few steps until he vanished from sight. Only then did she turn to leave.

On the drive back, she picked up Adam and accompanied him to the donor center to sign the voluntary donation agreement.

Once seated, they handed the agreement to Adam. "Adam, please take a look."

Adam took the document, reviewing it with Evelyn by his side.

Adam had thought it through; he wasn't planning to back out.

His kidney would be part of someone else's life.

Even without a blood tie, it felt like a bond.

He thought if they ever needed help, he could offer some support.

"Charles, what do you want?" Evelyn's voice was ice-cold.

Adam pulled his hand back, eyebrows knitting together.

Last night, he had gone home, pondering over everything.
