Evelyn was facing Dahlia and noticed the change in her expression immediately. Dahlia looked panicked and afraid. Almost instinctively, Evelyn turned to follow Dahlia's gaze. What she saw was a silhouette she could never mistake. Evelyn's eyes widened in shock. She stared, unable to believe her eyes for a moment. She was too afraid to blink, let alone step forward, worried it was just her imagination.

Then, the figure spoke gently, “Eve.” Those two soft syllables hit Evelyn hard, right in the heart. Only then did she realize that the person standing before her wasn’t a figment of her imagination. It was really her mom. Her mom… was awake.

“Mom!” Tears sprang to Evelyn’s eyes as she rushed over to Josephine, who was sitting in a wheelchair. When she reached her, Evelyn dropped to one knee, her eyes red and full of worry as she looked Josephine over. “Mom, when did you wake up? Are you feeling okay? Let me take you back to the hospital!” In that moment, nothing else mattered to Evelyn. All she cared about was her mom’s well-being.

“Mom’s fine, Dr. Nelson is here, don’t worry.” Josephine’s eyes were also brimming with tears. She thought about the scene she had just witnessed—Dahlia’s smug expression, and Eve, so angry and helpless. It broke her heart. She opened her arms and pulled Evelyn into a comforting hug. No matter how old they get, kids are always kids in their mother’s eyes.

“Godmother!” Adam was just as overjoyed! He sternly told the security team holding him, “Let go!” They hesitated and looked to Charles, who nodded for them to release him. Adam immediately dashed to Josephine’s side. “Godmother!” Like Evelyn, his eyes were filled with concern as he looked at Josephine. Seeing Josephine awake, Charles couldn’t hide his excitement either.
