Josephine watched as Evelyn entered the room, hand in hand with Brooks.

She forced herself to suppress the turbulent emotions stirred up by Charles, shifting her attention to Brooks and his injuries.

“Ms. Josephine, please don’t worry. It’s just a minor injury, nothing serious. Are you feeling alright? Any discomfort?”

“I’m fine,” Josephine replied.

Thankfully, none of the three had suffered any real harm.

Brooks immediately instructed his assistant to handle their discharge paperwork.

Soon, the police arrived, having learned that everyone was awake, and began taking their statements.

They updated the trio on the situation.

The fire had been extinguished the night before, and thanks to a timely call to the fire department, it hadn’t spread to the neighboring houses.

It was only through the officers that Evelyn and Josephine learned the fire had been set by Dahlia.

“Officer, have you caught her yet?” Evelyn asked urgently.

She remembered the smell of gasoline last night, realizing someone had set the fire deliberately, but she never expected Dahlia to be behind it, stirring up trouble once again.

The memory of that harrowing night still drained the color from Evelyn’s cheeks.

Dahlia’s existence was like a ticking time bomb.

“She got away, but Ms. Evelyn, please rest assured—we’ve already issued a warrant. We will bring Dahlia to justice,” the officer assured them.

How could Evelyn feel at ease?

Brooks allowed his assistant to make things easier for her.

Dahlia found a smuggler to take her out.

She boarded the ship, convinced fate was smiling on her.
