“I just wanted to avoid trouble. I thought that if you realized your mistake, we could sweep this under the rug...”

“Dahlia, you deserve an Oscar for that performance.”

Evelyn’s eyes gleamed with sarcastic disdain. How could she be such a drama queen?

Growing impatient, she cut Dahlia off, “Are you finished with your act? I have the same question as before. Where's the proof?”

Dahlia knew Evelyn hadn't done it, and Evelyn was confident that Dahlia wouldn’t be able to provide any evidence.

Dahlia made a bold accusation just because Charles showered her with undue affection.

Backed into a corner, Dahlia’s fury turned her eyes red. “Alright! You want proof, right?”

With that, Dahlia lunged toward the man sprawled on the ground. She dropped to her knees, grabbed his collar, and shook him furiously. “Who gave you my address? Who hinted that you should harm me and my daughter?”

The man glared at her with a fierce, resentful look but stayed mute.

Charles cast a glance at Evelyn, who remained calm and indifferent, then nodded at Aiden.

Aiden swiftly stepped up. Taking over from Dahlia, he pinned the man down, pressing his foot into the ribs that Charles had already broken. “Talk!”

“Ah! Ugh!”

The man’s scream was stifled as Aiden stuffed a towel into his mouth, muffling his cries of pain.

The man's body shook with agony, his act of madness dissipating. It was clear now—he had been faking it.

It was Evelyn’s account.

The moment he realized that, a storm of emotions swirled in Charles’ eyes. He couldn’t believe Evelyn really dared to do it!

Before Charles could grab the phone, she snatched it, confronting Evelyn with blazing eyes. “Evelyn, you wanted proof? Now, it’s undeniable. What do you have to say?”

Evelyn saw her own account on the screen and froze. She was clearly caught off guard.

“Evelyn, I never thought you wanted more than just vengeance; you actually intended to kill me and Sandy. How could you be so heartless…”
