“Five million for a consultation!” Johnny’s voice carried a tinge of theatrical astonishment.

Dane, who had been lost in thought beside them, looked up at the mention of the figure. Five million for a consultation? That seemed a bit excessive for just a medical check-up!

Unable to stick around any longer, Dane nodded towards Owen. “Mr. Owen, take care and rest up. I’ve just gotten back and have a few things to take care of, so I’ll be on my way.”

Owen regarded Dane and after pondering for a moment, he said, “We have been quite the imposition these past few days; perhaps it’s time we headed back.”

“You should rest more,” Johnny advised, even as he complied and brought over the document. “Sir, you might want to take this opportunity to strengthen your ties with Dane. He’s well-connected in Riverdale, and that could be useful when you take up your new post there.”

Surprised, Johnny replied, “Why the sudden interest in her?”
