Mirabella pondered for a moment before replying with casual simplicity, "Just someone who doesn't matter much. As for the thanks, I suppose it's because I saved a life."

Delilah paused, a hint of surprise in her voice. "Saved a life?"

"Yep," Mirabella uttered with a nonchalant nod, not bothering to elaborate further. She then fished out her smartphone and fired up a live-streaming app. Today, "Princess Leo" was flying solo on the stream, and Mirabella wondered if he had managed to avoid any trouble.

Delilah wanted to press on, but seeing her daughter engrossed in her phone, exuding a clear air of 'drop the subject,' she clamped her lips shut. Her daughter, usually so compliant and gentle, was a vault of secrets. If Mirabella didn't wish to share something, it was a closed book.

Delilah decided not to pry further. However, a thought struck her, and she glanced at Mirabella, feigning nonchalance as she asked, "By the way, honey, has anyone from the Gilbert family been around to see you again?"

Mirabella's gaze remained steadfast on her phone screen, and it took her a few seconds to respond without looking up, "Nope." There was a time when Mandy paid a solitary visit to her school, but that was ages ago and hardly worth mentioning now.

"Oh, well, if the Gilberts ever do come calling, make sure to let me know, dear." Delilah picked up a glass of water from the coffee table and took a sip.

This time, Mirabella glanced askance, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes, "Why's that?"

Delilah cleared her throat and said, "No big deal, really. Just don't want you dealing with bullies again."

Mirabella's eyes returned to her phone. "They're not in a position to bully me."

Mirabella gave the man a cursory glance, acknowledging him with a faint hum.

The bodyguard gestured invitingly towards the car. Smoothing her shoulder bag, Mirabella walked over without hesitation.

The black sedan wasn't exactly a luxury car, but a closer look revealed modifications – especially the windows, which were bulletproof. The bodyguard courteously opened the rear door for her. Mirabella diverted her thoughtful gaze and promptly slid into the backseat.

Johnny was seated in the front passenger seat. As soon as she got in, he greeted her warmly, "Ms. Mirabella, I appreciate you making the trip."

Mirabella straightened up and replied with a light affirmation before adding, "I'm not doing this for nothing, you know."
