"Room service," she heard, right before the door banged open.
She didn't blink, the intrusion didn't surprise her. She didn't think twice about it, she simply pulled the trigger, aiming for the vital organs. He reached her and back handed her with the force of a truck. The hit sent flying across the room, the wall stopped her unexpected flight and Layla barely managed to keep hold of the gun.
In the blink of an eye, he stood before her, their speed never failed to surprise her. His hot breath fanned her cheeks. He was toying with her, she could tell. He let her keep the gun where it was because he wanted her to think she had a fighting chance of surviving.
His face began to contort.
Layla had an idea of what to expect but reality was so much...worse. Fear began to bubble up and she emptied the whole clip into his chest. He was so cocky about his abilities he didn't give her gun or the wounds a second thought. Instead he chuckled and showed her a smile full of teeth, too sharp to be human.
"Nice try but your still on the menu."
It took another second for her attacker to finally realize that what she'd fired weren't regular bullets. Shock flared in his eyes, the only part of his face that retained some semblance of humanity. He got up and stumbled away from her clutching his chest, his face once again returning to human form.
Layla watched him wearily as she reached for her extra clip. Quickly she replaced the empty with the full and walked towards the heavy breathing form. Standing above him she aimed the gun and he glared at her.
"Silver bullets" Layla informed him and proceeded to shoot him once between the eyes.
Something's even they couldn't survive, a bullet through the heart and or brain was one of them. But just to make sure, she kept vigil over the body for a few minutes with the gun ready.
After the body grew cold, she rushed into the bathroom, grabbed the soap offered by the hotel and scrubbed her hands and face, washing away the blood. Quickly and meticulously, Layla cleaned and wiped down the rooms' surfaces, getting rid of any evidence that could incriminate her. Even though she'd only been in the room a few minutes before she was attacked, she left no surface unclean.
When she was done, she gave the body one last look, picked up her bag and walked out.
The attack must have gotten to her because she didn't notice someone was behind her until a hand landed on her shoulder. Before she could reach for her gun or make a sound, her mouth was covered and her arms held at her sides. She attempted to struggle but her captor only strengthened his hold.
"I'm not here to hurt you; I'm here to help you." He spoke slowly and clearly, only loud enough for her to hear. "I'm going to let you go and we are going to walk to my car. We are getting out of here and we will talk. I'm going to let you go now; do I have your word that you won't make a scene?"
She nodded once but she didn't plan on complying. As soon as he let her go she'd make a run for it. Layla braced herself, getting ready to bolt and he noticed.
