THE FORGOTTEN LUNA novel Chapter 19

ADESSA.

I’d been staring at the clock the whole morning, and by lunchtime, I finally decided I couldn’t just sit still and wait for Corrine to come home.

I wanted to see Kael, even if only for a moment and from a distance.

I put on black jeans and a black hoodie before leaving the apartment and walking toward the commercial area. Corrine’s home was just three blocks away, so I didn’t need to take a bus or a cab to get there.

It should be an easy walk, but I had to keep my guard up all the time. I didn’t want him or any of Alpha Draco’s men to see me if they were looking for me.

I honestly have no idea if Kael knew I was sold to Alpha Draco. If I based it on what Corrine told me last night that Kael was looking for me, it seemed he didn’t know. But then a part of me thought that maybe he was just faking his statement so he could buy the ring back.

I still remember the way he treated me after he woke up and how he dismissed my feelings by letting Desiree crawl all over him while I was still in the house, married to him.

Or how he played with me and fucked me only to let me know he wanted Desiree.

Now that I’m gone, it’s possible that they’ve already made their relationship public. Maybe they were inseparable, and I was long forgotten.

My heart clenched in pain as I stopped walking.

Wanting to see Kael was a stupid decision. I should move on.

But then I guess I was really stupid.

I let out a sigh and continued walking toward the cafe, which was across the street from the jewelry shop. I could sit there and drink tea. Hopefully, they weren’t yet there, so they wouldn’t see me along the sidewalk.

I bowed my head and continued walking with regular steps even though I was itching to walk faster.

Finally, I reached the cafe. I went in and bought my tea before choosing to sit by the window, where I could clearly see the entrance of the shop.

Glass windows surrounded the shop, allowing me to see Corrine and one employee inside. They were the only ones there. I hope I wasn’t late, and Kael has yet to arrive.

I was drinking my tea slowly, but I’d been here for almost an hour, and I could see the people at the counter looking at me. I had money to order more, but I knew I didn’t have the luxury for more. This tea was already out of my budget. I had to be careful with my expenses, so I just ignored them and swallowed my pride.

After this, they will never see me here again. I just wanted to see Kael.

My eyes widened when I noticed a car parked two shops away from the jewelry store. It was the only area with vacant parking. I was certain that this red, shiny car was Landon’s new one.

Landon came with him.

A smile curled on my lips at the memory of Kael’s Delta. If anyone in that pack treated me with respect and took my words seriously, it was him. But despite the respect, he was not afraid to goof around with me. Bragging about his expensive new convertible red car was the highlight of his day. He took pride that he was able to buy his dream car after scrimping on his salary so he could afford it. And I think he had every right to be proud of himself.

Although he was more than five years older than me, he was a child at heart, and I honestly liked him.

The door to the passenger’s side opened, and I shrunk in my seat, hiding my head amongst the flowers and plants by the window, but my eyes never left Kael.

The stubble on his face was shorter. He shaved. I remembered that I was the one doing it for him while he was in a coma. And even before that, he would let me shave it whenever I wanted to. He would teach me how, and we would sometimes end up with smudging shaving cream on each other’s faces.
