KAEL.
I saw Dexter’s hand coiled on his sides. I met his gaze and told him what to do next. “Go to the bank first thing tomorrow morning and freeze all her accounts. I also want records of her transactions in the last two years, three if possible.”
“I can do that,” Dexter said, nodding his head in respect. “Where is Luna Adessa?”
“I don’t know,” I answered, leaning forward on my desk again. “I’ll be out for a week or two starting tomorrow.”
“What?” They asked in unison.
“Where are you going?” Dexter asked.
“I have some business to attend to. All I need is a guarantee this pack will be handled efficiently.”
“I don’t think you’ll have a problem with that. I’ve been managing this pack in your absence while you were in a coma, but I need to know your whereabouts and what else to expect.”
“But you have Luna Adessa giving the final decisions for everything.” Landon butted him, debunking his words.
Dexter’s forehead creased before he responded to that. “She has the last say, but we both know that she knew nothing about this pack, and I was telling her what to do and what decisions to make.”
“Really?” Landon scoffed. “I’m not saying you’re not capable of handling this pack, but it seems we have a different Luna because the Luna Adessa I know has her own mind. She would take our opinions but would decide things based on her own judgment. Remember when she fired a contractor and got a new one even though you said no?”
“That’s enough. I need both of you to stop fighting like cats and dogs, especially when I’m not here. Alpha Rasmus will stay here while I’m away, so any major decisions have to go through him.”
“What? I can handle the pack, Kael. He has his own pack that he needs to take care of!” Dexter sounded upset.
While I agree that Rasmus should take care of his own pack, his Beta and Delta were his trusted men and could function without him. Unlike me, where I was already doubting my own Beta. But of course, I couldn’t voice that out.
“You are still free to handle the pack as you want, but then Rasmus will have the last say,” I said firmly before I stood up and went to my liquor cabinet.
I twisted the rhum cap open, only to close it again. At this point, I could not guarantee anything in my house was safe, especially since they had access to my office before I kicked them all out and let Rasmus’ men take over the house.
I had to be careful. I didn’t want to be poisoned before I could save Adessa.
“My decision is final. Either you agree with that, or you can both resign as my Beta and Delta.” I added.
After that, no one said a word, so I proceeded to state all the instructions so the pack could continue functioning without me.
I noticed throughout the meeting that Dexter asked where Adessa was more than twice, but I kept ignoring him.
I sent them out after the meeting, and Dexter hurriedly left my house. Landon was already driving away when I asked one of the Rasmus’ men to stop him and tell him to return to my office.
“Fuck, I’m glad you called for me. I was already thinking of calling you to tell you something.” He said this as soon as the door was locked.
“Talk.”
“Did you see how Dexter reacted when you said that Luna Adessa had told you that Miranda was the one who caused her this mess?”
I nodded.
“What do you think?”
“I want to believe he was upset that Miranda did this to his Luna, but I knew he never liked Adessa,” I told him, as Dexter had never said anything good about her since I woke up.
