It'd be worth nothing in your hands anyway—it would be better to just sell it. It's an agreement I had with him yesterday, so I'd ask that you transfer those land deeds to Lanecorp even if you kill me. Consider it my last request."

Zorn's expression turned cool—even if it was a last request, the way Gene spoke to him was no different from the way he always ordered him around.

"You still think I serve you? Even now?" Zorn asked icily.

"Certainly." Gene shrugged. "I value honor above all else, and Pearce Group will still be around even after I'm gone."
