Matthew felt a headache coming on. He could tell Rachel was genuinely angry.

They were both in a bad mood, and Rachel happened to overhear what was said earlier. He had no idea how he was supposed to explain this.

The security guards and the injured people nearby kept their heads down. They avoided Rachel's gaze as if they had been caught misbehaving, fearing they might be called out.

Zachary wanted to speak up for Matthew, but Rachel's icy expression made him lose his nerve. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed them back.

Tracy, who had come with Rachel, had a smirk on her face. She felt an unexpected sense of satisfaction as she watched Matthew take a hit.

Seeing that Matthew remained silent, Rachel spoke up again. "Come on, say something! How exactly did you try to pursue me?" she demanded.

Matthew cleared his throat and said, "Actually, I was just joking earlier. I never pursued you. I really didn't."

Rachel sneered, thinking that at least Matthew hadn't entirely become a scoundrel. He still knew there were some things he shouldn't say.

"Well, at least you're showing some sense," she said. "Let me make one thing clear. Don't ever mention me in the same breath as you again. It's embarrassing!"

Thinking about Matthew having sex with Sara on the rooftop only made her more furious. She couldn't forgive him for that.

Rachel's words made the guards look at Matthew with odd expressions, and some even snickered.

They had thought Matthew had actually won over Rachel. It turned out he was just boasting and had even received a warning from her.

Matthew frowned when she called it embarrassing. He could handle a tantrum, but this crossed the line. He stood up, walked over to Rachel, and gently lifted her chin with his hand.

"You!" Rachel was stunned by the sudden gesture. Her mind went blank, unsure of how to respond.

The guards' eyes widened in disbelief at what they were seeing.

Matthew, who was just a chauffeur, was daringly lifting Rachel's chin while she was angry.

They turned to Rachel, eager to see her response.

The commotion attracted several company executives.

Hearing Matthew's claim, they looked at him with disdain. They couldn't believe he had the nerve to say that Rachel would pursue him, given who he was.

They turned to Rachel with anticipation, expecting her to lose her temper.

"You!" Rachel was so furious she could barely speak. She took a step back, and after thinking it over, she realized there might be some truth to it.

Also, it was Fred who had taken her to the Grants to ask for their blessing for the marriage. However, that was beside the point.

She couldn't tolerate Matthew's behavior today.

She said angrily, "So what if I pursued you? What you did today was completely unacceptable!"
