Devonte scrunched up his brows. "I'm the deputy director. Can't I suggest moving the meeting to another place?"

With a contemptuous look, Judson retorted, "You're about to lose that title, Mr. Feldman. The director is calling a meeting to announce your removal from the position."

Devonte was shocked as though he was struck by lightning. Everyone else in the meeting turned pale.

Right when the director got here, he axed the deputy director, and it was clear that he meant business. The conference room fell silent.

Devonte came back to his senses. He cleared his throat to hide his embarrassment. "He wants to kick me out of my role, huh? We'll see if he has what it takes. What else did he ask for?"

Judson had been pushing to streamline the company. He looked around and saw 200 executives lounging in the air-conditioned conference room. They got to enjoy nice drinks and just take things easy.

Upon seeing this, he got really upset and decided to throw in a big surprise. "The director also mentioned laying off all the executives and hiring new ones."

In the conference room, it felt like a nuclear bomb had gone off. The situation just blew up instantly.

"What's the new director thinking? My brother-in-law works for the water company."

"Does Silvaris Pharmaceuticals still want to keep things running? I can get my uncle to cut off the electricity."

"I'll have my uncle check the taxes at Silvaris Pharmaceuticals tomorrow. They'll be on their knees begging."

Devontee stood up. "Calm down everyone. The new director doesn't know about the situation at Silvaris Pharmaceuticals. How can he make such a decision?

"I'll be the first one to make him regret it. I'm calling my uncle right now. Just a single word from him can cease the production at Silvaris Pharmaceuticals."

Someone in the audience knew Devonte's uncle and started stirring the pot. "Make the call right away. Issue a warning to cease production in the factory for a review. I want to see how this new director will handle it."

Pulling out his phone, Devonte walked out of the conference room to call his uncle. When he learned that his uncle was on his way, he felt a surge of confidence.

Upon returning to the conference room, Devonte announced, "Alright. Let's go meet up with the new director now."

As Matthew and Tracy walked inside Silvaris Pharmaceuticals, they came to a square that hosted the New Year's celebrations every year.

"The director is actually a woman. She probably slept her way to the top. Women like her are all looks and no brains, so it makes sense she acted so rashly," Devonte thought to himself.

Walking up to Tracy, he started, "Are you the new director?"

Tracy uncrossed her arms. "Yes. I'm Tracy Lauder. How should I address you?"

Devonte glared at Tracy. "I'm the deputy director of Silvaris Pharmaceuticals. I heard you're planning to fire me?"

Tracy nodded. "That's right. Please cooperate as we handle your termination."

Devonte responded, "I called the Food and Drug Administration yesterday. I found out they're here for an inspection today. I heard they're dissatisfied with the cleanliness of our factory and are about to take serious action against us.

"Luckily, I heard the team leader is my uncle. I was planning to wait for him to show up today so I could plead with him to lift the punishment.

"Since I'm fired, the factory will be forced to cease production for an indefinite period to sort things out. This is making me worried."
