"I get it. Men and hygiene don't exactly go hand in hand."

After pulling back the couch cover, Kingston pointed to the spotless cushion and said, "Have a seat. I'll grab you some water."

Wendy shook her head. "No thanks. I'll just sit here for a while."

Kingston rushed into the kitchen and quickly brought back a glass of water, placing it in front of Wendy. "Have some water. If you don't like it, I'll get you some coffee."

Wendy waved her hand. "Take it easy, and have a seat. I have something to tell you."

Feeling nervous, Kingston sat and placed his hands on his knees. "What's up? Why did you want to see me?"

Smiling, Wendy replied, "Over the last two years, every time something's come up at my poultry farm, you're here with just one phone call. Your medical expertise has really helped, and the farm has made some money these past two years. I really appreciate it."

Kingston smirked. "Don't sweat it. It's the least I can do."

Sitting by himself in the corner of the couch, Matthew silently observed their conversation.

Wendy suddenly acted a little shy. "Actually, there's something more important I need to talk about. My grandpa has cancer, but he wants to see me start a family.

"I really think you're a great person—hardworking and talented in the veterinary field. If you're okay with it, I'd like to date you. If it feels right, we can get married soon."

Wendy's words jolted Kingston like a bolt of lightning, knocking him into a state of shock. What a stroke of luck! It felt too good to be true, like a dream.

Kingston pinched his thigh hard. He winced at the sharp pain, but it also snapped him back to reality.

Wendy felt hurt like a dagger to the heart. Kingston would do anything for her, but she had overlooked how great he was. Instead, she chose an Eastorian dude.

To make matters worse, Alan was a freak who didn't value Wendy at all. He only wanted to trade her body and marriage for medical literature, completely ignoring her feelings.

Wendy realized she'd messed up, and it was a big mistake.

She felt a pang in her heart but managed to smile. "D-do you really know how to cook?"

Even after tormenting her the entire night, Alan still refused to stop and used all sorts of tools to play with Wendy. Feeling exhausted now, she just wanted to grab a bite and get some sleep.

Unfortunately, at sunrise, Alan pushed Wendy to talk to Kingston about getting married. She was seriously starving.
