Vernon's eyes were filled with rage as he barked orders at Dax. "Don't you have anything better to do? What are you doing here with so many workers? Get out of here with them."

Dax hummed in acknowledgment and led the workers away. Soon after, only Matthew and Desmond were left behind.

With everyone gone, Vernon waved to his men. "Get him! Beat him to a pulp."

The moment Vernon spoke, the sound of throat bone snapping rang out. The burly man leading the group held his neck and dropped to his knees, taking raspy, struggling breaths.

His eyes looked like they were about to jump out of his skull, and his mouth was agape as he gasped for air. Soon after, the color drained from his face until it turned pale. With a thud, he fell flat to the ground, motionless.

Everyone was caught off guard. Matthew moved so fast that they couldn't even catch a glimpse of him.

Vernon snapped back to reality first. "D-did you kill someone? Even if you're friends with this guy with a broken leg, have you thought about what comes after if you kill someone for his sake?"

Matthew coldly remarked, "I'm not doing this for him. I just really want you dead."

Vernon was dumbfounded. "Why?"

Matthew sneered. "You have it coming."

A look of disdain crossed Vernon's face. With so many bodyguards around him, Matthew didn't even stand a chance to get within one foot of him, let alone take him out solo.

"What makes you think that you can kill me? Do you have any idea how many people are protecting me?"

Matthew started walking toward Vernon. "I want to try my luck."

Vernon smugly laughed. "Then, you must be out of luck then!"

Matthew's figure darted forward, launching his fist in a flash.

With a snap, the nose of the throat bone breaking filled the air again. Another muscular man was left kneeling on the ground.

He'd stationed those secret assassins himself. With their protection, he felt bold enough to roam the factory openly.

Matthew coldly stated, "There are seven people and five sniper rifles, but they're all dead."

Dead? How could that be? They were all hidden.

Vernon decided to take a chance. The code word they'd agreed on was "fire". Once he said it, the snipers on the roof would shoot and eliminate Matthew in front of him.

With his eyes trained on Matthew's head, Vernon shouted at the top of his lungs, "Fire!"

After giving his command, Vernon fixed his gaze on Matthew's head, waiting for a headshot that would splatter blood everywhere.

However, a breeze swept through, gently ruffling Matthew's hair. The headshot moment he'd anticipated didn't happen.

Vernon's forehead was covered in sweat. He refused to believe it and yelled "Fire!" six times. As he locked his eyes on Matthew's head, he eagerly awaited the headshot.
