Refund?

Matthew was taken aback for a second. Then, it all became clear. The sender was the Fullers, who had paid for his death.

He instinctively started typing, "The Misfortune's Veil's owner has already met his end. Now, it's time to…"

He typed the message and moved his finger to tap the enter key, but his finger suddenly froze at the very last moment.

Matthew narrowed his eyes. A glint flickered in them, as though he was deep in thought.

After a while, he deleted the words he typed earlier and started writing again, "Our assassin policy is no refunds after receiving the payment."

Soon after, a message came back, "I expect results for every penny I spend. Matthew is still alive. You must return the money, or I won't be playing nice."

Matthew briefly replied, "What are you going to do about it?"

Leopold was infuriated and said, "Then I'll pay the assassins from The Fate Order to get my money back. You don't want to be hunted down, do you?"

Matthew tried to immerse himself in Nathan's character, thinking about how Nathan would respond.

After thinking for a while, Matthew replied, "Matthew didn't die, but we lost over 30 men. All your money went toward their families, and it has all been spent. There's no way we can refund you. But we can make a compromise. I've just crafted a foolproof plan, and I'm certain that it can take out Matthew."

Leopold read the message and was so angry that he felt like cursing up a storm. "Then get moving with a new plan. As long as Matthew is dead, I won't bring up the money again."

Matthew snickered, his thumbs moving quickly as he typed, "I'm out of funds for the operation. Send me another 50 million dollars."

Fifty million dollars?

After being told the number, Leopold was so livid that his hands started shaking. "I already paid you, and you didn't finish the job. And now, you're asking for more? How do you even have the nerve to ask?"

The Misfortune's Veil had screwed up the first time with the Fuller family's job. The second mission had over a 50% chance of failure, but they were still willing to pay.

At this point, Matthew understood the Fullers' determination to take him out, but it also fueled his intention to get rid of them.

Putting away his phone, Matthew took out Nathan's phone and examined the webpage from earlier. It was a dark web called Freedom Protocol.

On Freedom Protocol, Nathan registered a username called Mishaps God.

Looking through the past chat logs and friends, Matthew grew more shocked with every line he read. All of the assassins working for The Misfortune's Veil were on the friends list.

Opening the chat page, he looked through the notes under each contact. The first name he saw was Farrell, followed by Alistair.

Tapping on Alistair's profile, he saw details such as Alistair's age, weight, personality, occupation, and assassination methods.
