Before that sheet of paper could land on the ground, Matthew reached out to grab hold of it. It was a piece of draft paper filled with handwritten words, line after line.

The sheet of paper brought back memories from high school because Matthew had used the same type of draft paper to write letters back then.

He shifted his line of sight to the top left corner of the paper, and on it was written, "Dear Tony, I know there's only a slim chance of you waking up, but I still hope this letter reaches you…"

After he read the first line, Matthew realized that it was a letter from Jay to Tony. He then passed the paper to Tony, saying, "It's a letter from your brother."

Having heard that, Tony took the sheet of paper somewhat excitedly and asked in a trembling voice, "My brother?"

He then narrowed his eyes as he read what was written, but the more he read it, the more he frowned. In the end, he passed the letter back to Matthew and said, "My eyesight is terrible now, and I can't read any of these words. They all look like blotches of ink stuck together or a congested bunch of flies."

When Matthew received the letter, he was prepared to read the letter aloud for Tony. However, he was a little troubled because the letter might contain some private thoughts or secrets.

Matthew contemplated for a moment before he asked, "Do you have your reading glasses?"

Tony then frowned and said, "I do, but I'm not sure where I placed them."

He went around the house to find it as he spoke but to no avail. Then, Tony turned to Matthew and pleaded slightly, "Please read it for me."

At that, Matthew smiled and said, "I'm just afraid there'd be some messages that are too private for me to know about. I'm an outsider, after all."

"If I had continued going down that path, I would've probably been sent to prison or shot to death. Later on, I got stabbed by a knife in a fight and was left lying on the street. Not a single person came to my aid, and I thought I was going to die.

"But you came, unexpectedly, and brought me to the hospital. None of the people I was hanging out with gave a shit about me when I was lying in the hospital—all except for you, Tony.

"Only you would fetch me water every day and help me when I needed to use the toilet… It makes me wanna cry now that I'm writing this, Tony."

Matthew's voice was trembling a little as he read that line, and he lifted his gaze to look at Tony, who had burst into tears. Amidst his sobs, Tony murmured, "What are you talking about? I'm your elder brother."

Afterward, he wiped his tears away with the corner of his sleeves and told Matthew, "Continue reading."
