He wasn't attacking traditional medicine. They were just his feelings after what he had gone through, losing all sense of hope.

Matthew saw Tony's frail body shaking. Like a withered tree facing against a violent wind, he looked like he was about to collapse at any moment.

He felt bad and tried to comfort Tony. "It's not as terrible as you think. Do you know why Darius, Marilyn, and Benson are all trying to snatch Vital Restorative Remedies?

"They realized that traditional medicine is irreplaceable, with amazing qualities that leave modern medicine in awe.

"This means people have started to recognize the wonders of traditional medicine and are starting to value it. That's why Darius, Marilyn, and Benson stop at nothing to get the medical book."

Tony smacked the table, saying in frustration, "How is this good? The Eastorians are the ones taking traditional medicine seriously, not our own. If this keeps going, it'll end up being theirs. That's even worse."

Matthew was at a loss for words. Tony had a point—the Eastorians stopped at nothing to take the medical books. They were willing to spend big money, send spies, and even hire assassins for it.

The situation was getting tougher for traditional medicine.

Matthe suddenly felt a sense of urgency. He couldn't just hang around chatting, so he quickly got up. "Take a rest. I've got some important business to handle."

Tony was having a great time chatting with Matthew. So, when he saw Matthew getting up to leave, he shouted, "Don't go yet. Let's chat a little longer."

Tony had a lot to say about traditional medicine, but no one in the village could relate to him. Now that he finally had someone to talk to, he wanted to keep going.

Matthew waved his hand. "I think Harmona Sect is the key to saving traditional medicine. It's the only way for it to rise again. I'm going to find the successor of Harmona Sect."

The first thing that truly struck Matthew's soul was a written passage in House of Blacktorn. "Bertram Thornfield, son of Octavian Blackthorn, begat six sons. Thus was the child brought forth by incision."

The historical text was roughly translated as such. "Octavian fathered a son, Bertram. Bertram married a woman, and the six children she gave birth to were all delivered by cesarean section, what they referred to as incision birth."

By 220 AD, cesarean section was already prevalent. He had always thought that cesarean section only became common in the last 20 years, but after finding out it had been practiced since 220AD, he was utterly blown away.

That second thing that really shook Matthew to the core was Dr. Knowall's bone-scraping treatment and the belly incision.

Matthew had read about Ragnar Fireheart's bone-scraping treatment from Chronicles of Forgotten Wars. Maybe he was prepared for it, so when it came across the story, it didn't really faze him.

But the whole thing about cutting open the belly and cleaning the intestines really hit Matthew hard.

The idea of opening the stomach and cleaning out the intestines was easy to understand, but when he read those words, his mind just went blank in shock.
