I patiently listened to Lorraine, but I furrowed my brows a little.

"So, are you planning to let him go?"

"If you were me, what would you do?" Lorraine looked lost. She cocked her head and looked at me in confusion.

"I won't show any mercy."

I looked at her conflicted expression. This was probably hard on her. Her brother had done such atrocious things; no one would be able to accept it.

"If either Jonas or Xavier had done such a thing, I'd personally send them to the police."

This had nothing to do with blood relations. It was a matter of morals.

I wouldn't allow anyone close to me to hurt others.

"If I choose to do nothing, I won't be helping him and I'll also be making it worse for him."

I had previously looked into Sam. He had always been a spoiled brat, which was how he ended up this way. He would play dirty for money and Lorraine. If he was not locked up, he would create more trouble sooner or later.

"I understand." Lorraine lowered her head in disappointment, but I understood that she had made up her mind too.

I initially thought I would need to persuade her even more. It looked like I did not need to anymore.

Lorraine was silent for a long time. She then slowly looked up and asked me, "How did you know where I was?"

She was locked up in an apartment that Sam bought previously when he had earned some money. Not many people knew about that place.

"Xavier helped."

"Xavier?" Lorraine was a little surprised that Xavier would help her out.

"It's a long story. Why don't you get some rest?"

Lorraine smiled and nodded when she noticed that I was not planning on staying tonight. She let me tuck her into bed.

Once the door closed, Lorraine sighed heavily.
