The person looked at him impatiently. "Of course, he wants to see you. Who else could it be? Me?"

Everyone around Xavier seemed to carry the same arrogant demeanor. Jonas hesitated before he followed them to an empty classroom that no one usually visited.

They stopped at the doorway, and the room was pitch-black.

Jonas asked, "Why would Xavier be inside here?"

"He just told us to bring you here. If you don't go inside, what am I supposed to say to him?"

Jonas instantly became suspicious when he heard that.

He was worried something had happened to Xavier, so he walked into the room under the other kid's watchful gaze.

He stopped at the entrance and called out, "Is there anyone here? Xavier, are you inside?"

No one answered even after he called out a few more times. He turned around impatiently. "Xavier isn't here at all. Are you lying to me?"

Before he could finish, he heard the sound of the door closing. He failed to rush out and was locked inside.

From the outside, he heard that kid's voice. "You can just stay in here. Why would you mess with Xavier, of all people? We're just helping him get revenge."

"Did Xavier ask you to do this?" I asked.

"I'm not telling you," was the response he got.

Jonas banged on the door, but the kid outside had already run off.

His expression darkened. He didn't have his phone with him and couldn't even call for help. He leaned against the door and listened for any sounds outside.

"Daddy, why aren't you here yet?" His voice was getting weaker as his lips trembled.

Even an hour after school ended, Jonas was still not home.

"Didn't you pick Jonas up today?" Lorraine looked at me in confusion. Normally, he should have been home by this time.

I said, "No, wasn't Murphy supposed to pick him up?"

"Murphy just called me. He said he didn't see Jonas and found out from the teacher that someone had already picked him up," Lorraine replied.

"Who picked him up?" I stood up immediately, startling Lorraine.
