“This is Lucas and Kamri.” I point to them and they wave at him. 

Adonis breathes out a sigh of annoyance. “Alright, since you won’t piss off, I will.” 

He gets up and walks away just as the lunch bell rings. 

“He seems…” Lucas pipes up, trailing off. “Nice?” 

After school, I wait outside the main entrance for Octavia. 

“Oh my god, could this bitchass take any longer?” I mumble to myself as I spin the keys of our shared jeep on my finger. 

I shift my weight from one leg to the other before I see Adonis talking to the captain of the football team, Flynn Reed, who just so happens to be a good friend of mine. 

Obviously, Octavia is going to take her sweet ass time, so I decide to go over there and say hi to Flynn, and annoy Adonis some more. 

Just so he can make up for the fact that he was being a dick to me earlier. 

I don’t think that’s how it works. 

Shut up, Pablorina. Leave me be. 

I skip over and throw myself on Flynn’s back. “Kia Ora, Flynn Rider.” 

I can practically hear him rolling his eyes as he puts his arms under my thighs so I don’t slip off. 

“Winnie, for the last time, stop calling me Flynn Rider. I’m not straight out of Tangled.” 

I lean my chin on his shoulder. “Your smoulder says otherwise.” 

He puts me down and give me a blank look. 

I grin and point at his face. “See, that one right there!” 

He chuckles and throws an arm around my shoulder, turning us around to face Adonis who has his hood up and as looking at me with an annoyed expression. 

“Winnie, this is Adonis.” Flynn introduces. “Adonis, this is-”

“Yeah, we’ve met.” Adonis tells him, completely ignoring me. “She’s been annoying me all day.” 

What an asshole. 

You’re the one annoying him. 

I’m trying to be his friend! 

Obviously he doesn’t want to be your friend. 

“First period and lunch time is not all day.” I defend myself. “You’re the one being a dickhead.” 

“Because you’re being annoying.” He replies immediately. 

“You know what?” I start. “The more of a dick you are, the more I’m going to annoy you. So go ahead 

and keep being a dick.” 

He opens his mouth to say something but shuts it when Flynn starts laughing. “You two are definitely going to get together.” 

“I am not going to get with this irritating little puta.” Adonis rolls his eyes. 

I give him an offended look. “I’ll have you know, I’m five–eight! I am not a little bitch.” 

“He’s six–three.” Flynn whispers as he leans over to me. “You’re pretty tiny compared to him.” 

“Shut up, Flynn Rider.” I put my hand on his face and push him away before looking back at Adonis. “And I wouldn’t want to date you anyway, jizztissue.” 

“Jizztissue?” Adonis raises an eyebrow at me. “I’m wounded.” 

“Actually, jizztissue is one of her most amusing insults.” Flynn cuts in again. We both turn to glare at him and he steps back, muttering to himself. “Both of them looking at me like that at the same time is way scarier than when they look at me like that separately.” 

I turn to him. “How do you even know Hot Stuff?” 

“Hot stuff?” 

“Adonis!” 

“Oh, he was my best friend back in Bronx.” Flynn grins brightly. 

I furrow my eyebrows. “You used to live in New York?”

He gapes at me. “Where do you think I moved here from back in eighth grade?” 

I shrug. “I thought you came here from Florida or some shit.” 

“Really, Winnie?!” 

“I don’t know! You don’t have an accent or anything!” I defend myself. 

He opens his mouth to say something before he gives me a questioning look. “Do you even know 

what a New York accent sounds like?” 

“Nope.” I shrug. 

He gives me a blank look before turning to Adonis. “Can you say something?” 

“Something.” Adonis says without looking up from his phone. 

“Adonis!” Flynn whines. 

Adonis groans, looking away from his phone and staring at his best friend instead. “What do you 

want me to say?” 

Flynn looks back to me, pointing at Adonis. “That! That’s what a New York accent sounds like.” 

I smile sheepishly. “Okay, you do have an accent.” 

“What did you think it was for the last five years?” 

“I just thought you sounded strange, to be honest.” 

“I sound strange?” He repeats, throwing me an offended look. “What the hell is your accent?” 

“Some weird mix between a British accent and an American accent.” I grin. 

“I don’t have an accent.” Adonis states. “Everyone in California has an accent.” 

“Yeah, that’s what I said until we went on a school trip to Texas.” Flynn says. “We all have accents.” 

“I don’t-” 

“You have an accent when you talk in Spanish.” Flynn cuts him off. 

“You speak Spanish?” I interrupt.

I look at Adonis and study his face as he looks at me with a bitch face. “Oh, yeah, he’s definitely 

Spanish.” 

Adonis rolls his eyes. “Dominican.” 

I bite my lip. “I am suddenly way more attracted to you.”
