Ray was shocked by his sudden cold expression. When he reacted, he smiled. “Byron, you’re finished. You’ve completely fallen for her.” 

“What the hell are you talking about?” Byron’s voice was cold. “If anyone falls, it will be her falling for me.* 

‘I couldn’t be controlled by a woman. I only dote on her because I find her pleasing. It is no different from how humans have a pet. Similarly, she can only have me as her master, thought Byron. 

Ray knew Byron’s old habits had resurfaced. He thought, ‘Byron used to be the same when he was in college. He was chased by a girl who was still in high school and couldn’t resist avoiding her.

However, Ray only silently complained and would not expose Byron in person.

Ray cursed silently. He really owed them in his previous life. He was a great surgeon, yet he had to become a veterinarian at the drop of a hat. 

“Don’t you just want to know if Mae has you in her heart? That’s simple. You just need to test her a little, okay?” 

“How?” 

“Call off your engagement, of course.” 

As expected, Ray received another death glare. He quickly added “Of course, I’m not asking you to really call off your engagement. I’m asking you to pretend to do so to test her attitude.” 

If Maeve disagreed, it meant she definitely had Byron in her heart. 

If she agreed… that was unlikely. As an outsider, Ray could tell Maeve liked Byron. 

Byron was deep in thought. He immediately got up from the sofa, picked up his watch on the table, and put it back on his wrist. He said unhurriedly, “Go back to sleep. I’m leaving.” 

Ray held the wine glass and was dumbfounded. “Byron, I’m already in high spirits. Aren’t you going to have a few more drinks with me?” 

“No. I’ll leave the wine for a lonely person like you to take your time to drink.” 

Ray was speechless. 

‘Is he even decent guy?‘ thought Ray.

Chapter 483 

After Byron left, Ray uffled his messy hair and went upstairs to continue sleeping. Unexpectedly, the doorbell rang again. 

He thought Byron had returned, but it turned out to be Jarrett. 

“Don’t tell me you’re here for a drink, too?” Ray widened his eyes. The dark circles under his eyes were about to fall out of his mouth. 

Jarrett sighed. “How did you know? To tell you the truth, I’ve been pursuing a girl recently, but she seems to have someone else in her heart. I wanted to come and learn from an experienced person like you…” 

Ray slammed the door expressionlessly before he heard out Jarrett’s words. 

‘Get lost! Is there something wrong with you, the men in love?‘ thought Ray. 

Ray was exhausted both physically and mentally after seeing off Jarrett. Finally, he climbed into bed and could sleep. However, his phone rang again. 

Seeing the caller ID, Ray’s curses instantly froze. 

[Bonnie] 

“Hello?” Ray lowered his voice and pretended to be calm with his fingers on the pillow. “Who said that contacting each other after breaking up is a dog…” 

Before he could finish, Bonnie’s simple and crude scolding interrupted him. “Ray George! You idiot. You bastard.” 

No one knew how traumatized Psychologist Ray was that night.

Maeve only had a single glass of a light fruit wine throughout the night, enough to feel a slight buzz but not to get drunk. 

It was still much better than Bonnie, who had started calling and cursing after drinking two glasses of whiskey. 

Maeve barely managed to drive Bonnie back to her house, but Bonnie had dragged her to sleep with her. She had no choice but to decide to sleep there for the night. 

After sending a message to Will and Theo, Maeve put down her phone and covered Bonnie with a blanket. She slid into the blanket and quickly fell asleep. 

Will and Theo fell asleep not long after receiving Maeve’s message. 

Only Byron paced by the window from time to time or glanced at his silent phone. His frown deepened. 

Then, he took his coat and went out. 

At noon the next day. 

Linda Hancock, Bonnie’s mother, stared at Maeve and Bonnie to drink a bowl of hangover soup each. Their dizzy heads finally felt less uncomfortable. 

“You two are typically rookies and like to drink. You don’t know how much you can hold your liquor. Especially Bonnie. You came back drunk like that. Those who don’t know might think you’ve fallen out of love again,” Lindare buked. 

Maeve held back her laughter as she ate. Beside her, Bonnie felt as if an arrow had been shot in her chest. 

“Mom… I’ve only fallen out of love once in my life. Can you not remember it so clearly?” 

“You’re so old and have only been in one relationship. How dare you say that? I arranged a blind date for you but you didn’t want it. Are you waiting for your partner to fall from the sky? Can’t you learn from Maeve and save me some trouble?” said Linda.
